I'd love to make both sfx and Toaplan style music, but alas, I have a 10 month baby roaming the halls and stealing both energy and quality computing time.

Make a list of the SFX you need and I can at least try to make some of those. I know how to make a sound similar to the Twin Cobra bomb! The young man is walking and climbing everywhere he's not supposed to, so it's increasingly hard to just sit with headphones unless my girlfriend's gonna kill me for not helping. :/

Is there any way to put this into 3:4 yoko rather than 9:16? Looks great rotated but awful playing yoko on my 4:3 LCD screen.

Do you mean the borders? Would love a screenshot. Might not look the same on mine, I mean.

I'd love a screenshot too, but Print Screen key gave me a 1280x960 black box when running it. :(

Best I can do is a phone shot:
Image

I also noticed quite a lot of tearing in the tiles occurring, probably related to it being downscaled on my 1024x768 monitor (Tetsuishi has a similar problem on my display).

Phone shots are the best ones! :D
Yep, this is what happens when the monitor don't support 1280x720. My 4:3 monitor supports that res but gives borders top and bottom.
Will do a version that checks for 1280x720 availability and that fall backs to 1024x768 if it doesn't exist.

So, new version:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/457 ... 1031-1.zip

* Support for 1024x768 if 1280 isn't found. (but gives ugly stretched wallpaper)
* Stage 2 somewhat playable
* Boss 1 attacks done (the rest of the boss needs tweaking)
* Spread shot is now as effective as wide/straight shot
* emphatics bomb drop sound is in! \o/

No changes to placement/behaviour...though.

EDIT: Ah, and the enemy bullet now flashes gray/yellow just like the flying shark ones...gorgeous!

Not sure why but that didn't work for me. It visually behaves the same as before, like it's being extra-squashed. :(

That planes the perfect speed, feels realy nice :D

I recon you should elaborate on some of the more experimental wepons in fire shark, take it to the extreme. Get some steampunk stuff going on. dunno

Just to make it realy stand out.

Do you have the last version left? That version prints out the supported fullscreen resolutions (at the very top in the console). Could you post that here, please?
New version don't print this...duh.

I was thinking that, when maxed out, the weapons should have some over the top effects.
Spread Shot (cyan)-> Lightning, like truxton
Wide Shot (red) -> Fire, a lot like FS
Power Shot (green) -> Laser, like... I dunno

Thanks! I thought everyone used joy2keys (or what it's called)? :)
Will be adding a key/joy-config later anyway so the PC build will get joy support by default too.

Had to add "> log.txt" to the batch file since the resource loading scripts chewed through the command-line's buffer (so I couldn't scroll up to see the values), but here's my logfile: http://pastebin.com/RM30jD09

One row do say "1280 720" so...I'm confused.
Will do so that an override is possible then, see if that solves it.

New version with a start script for forced 1024x768 resolution. It's just arguments added to the start so any resolution can be tried, really.

But I'm pretty sure this will work as intended...

Running by default gives me the same deal as before but forcing 1024x768 on it does the trick. No more stretchlines on the tiles and it actually runs on aspect ratio when TATEd now as well. :D

Thanks for testing! Great to hear it works. Party! :D

In other news. The game is all about the craters left by the tanks, right? So of course it should be in the center of the piece. :)
Sorry about the really bad/shaky mobile camera shots...

Going to try and add some red glow in it. Like a backlight from the sides of the crater or something.

So, at max power we now have:
Image Image Image

And two small nods to daisenpuu, just for kicks:
Image

There's now 4 almost complete (bosses needs tweaking) stages and I know what the 5th stage will be about.
I might do even more daisenpuu tributing by doing a tank-only stage as the 6th.

And to top it off, I still think the game is fun to play myself! \o/
But it's now hard, really hard and I can't finish it myself, might be why I still enjoy it...

Make sure you don't accidentally introduce The Daisenpuu Exploit :V

Exploit
:V
Needs some serious dedication to find that route. So I wouldn't call it an exploit, more like mastering the game. :)

The only stage to have the helpers will be that orange one. And the helpers will be slaughtered pretty quickly.
But in this vid I've got them in stage one as well, maybe have them in the easy setting?

No, it totally sucks the fun out of the game. It's extremely easy once you know that you can do that :/ Just try to avoid letting that work :P
