Tom cruise is perfect for the role cause he's super gay like Rei Fukai.

 That's a lot of letter O's, and he would fit that role well, but I just don't know how well it would work to have Tom Cruise play a dark, depressed, quiet character like Rei Fukai. I just don't see him doing that, in most of his movies he is always the confident hero.

I don't know what ykkz is all abouts, but I can just see this ending up the same way The Last Samurai did:

East Coast Liberal Elites (including me lol): This is the worst thing since The Last Samurai, RACIST
Japanese: We love Tom Cruise! Somebody understands us finally!
Anonymous: Lol clambake

I would almost not be surprised if Cruise just decided to give up on domestic projects, kind of like a reverse of Jackie Chan saying that he doesn't really "get" the Rush Hour films but appreciates being able to fund the Chinese projects that are close to his heart. Well, I just don't know where Tom Cruise's energy is directed, but bless him all the same.

Edit: OK, I see what this is about now. I think the above should be preserved for unintentional comedy value in addition to any comedy values that were hopefully present by design.

I have to agree with the guy in the story who is like 'this is going to be more grimdark nonsense.' I've had enough of Tom Cruise looking grim while holding assault rifles for a long while, and the last Cruise film I saw was The Last Samurai.
