Questions that do not deserve a thread
Re: Questions that do not deserve a thread
can ntsc gamecube games be played in 480p on a wii without the filter the console normally puts onto wii game pictures?

My question seemed to have gotten lost in the crowd. Thanks in advance for answering!Plasia wrote:Is the XCAPTURE-1 confirmed to be lagless? (or less than 1 frame at least)
What settings do you have to change for it to be lagless?
Re: Questions that do not deserve a thread
no, it is not. But close enough.
Re: Questions that do not deserve a thread
What is the lag on it when you remove aero or whatever it is?
Re: Questions that do not deserve a thread
under two frames.
Re: Questions that do not deserve a thread
I built a LM1881n female to male SCART cable (took me hours to figure out that I hadn't broken the tracks on the board thoroughly enough!) and it works perfectly on a Wii and Genesis 1. It doesn't work on a Playstation 1 or 2, which I'm guessing is because those don't output enough voltage on pin 8.
If you recall a few pages back I was having problems with my Dreamcast having a weird sync wobble, and it had this problem on a Sony PVM-2044qm, a PVM-1454qm, a KV-21LS30U and a Sharp LC-26AD5E. Well I tested it on our main TV, a Sony KDL-32EX403, and it didn't have this problem. Anyway after building the sync stripper I tried the Dreamcast on the PVM-2044qm again. I wasn't expecting it to work, after all I would have been stripping sync from a c-sync signal (pin 10 I think on the dreamcast end of the official SCART cable), but it did work!
So I hope if someone has a similar problem they find what I posted useful.
Now a question, Can I attach a 9v battery to the lm1881n SCART cable (with the bit that connects a 9v battery from a smoke alarm) for a constant source of power? If so, does it matter what ground pin I use? Or am I better off with a female power socket and a 5v 1a power plug from an old modem?

Re: Questions that do not deserve a thread
The LM1881 requires a stable 5V source, so no, a 9V battery would not work.
If you have a "proper" PS1/2 RGB cable, then you get 12V on Pin 8. That's way too much for a LM1881.

Apologies if this is a stupid question but:
What is a suicide battery on a PCB? And if it is what it sounds like, why do they exist?

Re: Questions that do not deserve a thread
It's a battery that supplies power to a chip containing code that decrypts the contents of the game ROMs. Once that battery dies, the code is lost and the game will refuse to run. It was mainly an anti-piracy measure since piracy was rampant back then for popular arcade games.PAPER/ARTILLERY wrote:What is a suicide battery on a PCB? Re: Questions that do not deserve a thread
Does anyone have any recommendations on Dreamcast VGA boxes that feature both VGA and S-video outputs?
My current VGA box is shit (lots of interference whenever more than one cable is connected, including audio) so I want to replace it with something better shielded.
I use both the VGA and S-video, VGA is connected to my modern LCD TV while S-video is connected to my PVM, so I can use either of them depending on the game not supporting VGA mode and/or running in 240p.

I use the retro-bit VGA box and it's been solid, albeit the ports kind of feel like they might break one of these days. I'll let you know if it's any good with two output connections.antibolo wrote:Does anyone have any recommendations on Dreamcast VGA boxes that feature both VGA and S-video outputs?

Is there an adaptor that can convert 2xRCA audio into that weird audio connection that's on the back of all Extron devices? Like the ones you see here http://www.rocheav.co.uk/_uploads/image ... e=1798.png
If so what is it called / what should I be Googling for?

Phoenix connectors. I could only find single RCA-Phoenix cords with nutty prices.BuckoA51 wrote:Is there an adaptor that can convert 2xRCA audio into that weird audio connection that's on the back of all Extron devices? Google for Phoenix Contact 1840395. The connectors are $2 a piece. Easy to build your own adapters.

A quick question
http://www.gametrog.com/GAMETROG/How_wh ... -s95j.html
I am acquiring Mega CD and 32X because, why the fuck not?
Of course the power supply is the big issue, 3 of them! So I want to mod a powersupply to give all 3 from 1 supply, shouldn't be too difficult (famous last words). but my question is simply, from this I can see 10V supply of 3A should be good to go but I have seen some pages talk about 9V instead of 3A, which should I use or does it not matter?

Re: Questions that do not deserve a thread
doesn't matter. Even Sega switched between 9 and 10V. You're sure that 3A are enough ? Didn't the Sega MD/MCD ones have 1200mA on their own already ?

Counting it is 2*0,85+1,2 = 2,9 < 3Fudoh wrote:doesn't matter. Even Sega switched between 9 and 10V. You're sure that 3A are enough ? Didn't the Sega MD/MCD ones have 1200mA on their own already ?
I also saw this http://segaage.com/forum/messageview.cf ... adid=80928
but doesn't a GC adapter give 12V?

Re: Questions that do not deserve a thread
Does the Audio Authority 9A60 accept 15khz RGBS? I believe someone here mentioned it would but I wanted to make sure.
Re: Questions that do not deserve a thread
Im looking for a HDMI Switcher for my monitor which only has 1 HDMI input. i would need atleast 3 ports.
Iv seen quite a few on ebay, they are really cheap and wondered if its worth getting a more expensive one for better quality?
Im looking to get this one http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/5-PORT-HDMI-S ... 4ab7ffce6e
Any suggestions?

Re: Questions that do not deserve a thread
as long as you get an active one (with it's own PSU) it should be fine. I mean, we're not talking 50 ft cable runs here, do we ?
Re: Questions that do not deserve a thread
Nope, just 1m HDMI cables, from my consoles to monitor. I'm getting a PS4, already have Xbox 360 and my PC connected to it at times.

Re: Questions that do not deserve a thread
What's a good monitor to use for playing games in tate? I'm using an LG right now that rotates, but it's super wobbly when it's rotated, even moving my chair will cause it to wobble. I wish I had a monitor that could rotate and 'lock' into place when oriented vertically. Any recommendations?
Re: Questions that do not deserve a thread
what about using a rotatable VESA wallmount instead ?Any recommendations?

Re: Questions that do not deserve a thread
I'm renting at the moment unfortunately, not sure I want to go drilling any holes in the wall just yet. It's a good idea though, it'd let me put up a larger monitor TV. I assume wallmounts are pretty solid, don't have to worry about it falling off as long as it's installed correctly?
Re: Questions that do not deserve a thread
yes. Also TVs and monitors got much lighter than they were a few years ago.

Am I reading that correctly and I'd need a sync separator or custom cords to use c.sync with the 9A60?

Re: Questions that do not deserve a thread
When using Wii with component cables through a Framemeister and straight to TVs I always notice some weird flickering black bits why is that? Is that the cable or is that just normal for Wii?
Re: Questions that do not deserve a thread
So the original Xbox High Definition AV pack outputs HD over component - what are the options to convert this to HDMI (since buying a HD CRT is probably out of the question)? HD in this case would be 720p or 1080i out of the Xbox.
