The 3rd tier 2D fighting game thread
Re: The 3rd tier 2D fighting game thread
Oh, the Power Instinct games are pretty good. Groove on Fight and 5 are my favorites.
Re: The 3rd tier 2D fighting game thread
TMNT Tournament Fighters (SNES version was best IMO)

I love Last Blade 2. Who gives a shit if they're broken? Great music, aesthetics, and they're fun to play.

Rage of the Dragons has some dumb shit [those infinites make me sad, a handful of my friends bothered to learn them too, so now no one that I know wants to ever play this game]MOSQUITO FIGHTER wrote:I dunno, maybe the Power Instinct series, Waku Waku 7, or Rage of Dragons. I like those games but they don't seem to be very popular at all.
I like Waku Waku 7 a bunch. Tesse, all day, erry day.

Come check out my website, I guess. Random stuff I've worked on over the last two decades.

Cool topic, and I hope after Capcom's suit was dismissed Mizoguchi went round to Ryu's cardboard box and punched his fuck in.

The funniest thing is that Jagi is the worst character in the game.

That would explain a lot about your personal taste of games. A DECO fan has many funny traits.GaijinPunch wrote:Speaking of Data East, where does Suikoenbu fit in? Never put much time into it, but it's pretty nice looking. I also like Data East quite a bit.

What about Galaxy Fight guys? I always thought the no border gameplay was unique in a way.
I always thought ASUKA 120% was a great game play drunk.
Re: The 3rd tier 2D fighting game thread
I always thought Suikoenbu felt like some DECO developers thought Samurai Spirits would be more popular if it played more like SF2. Hence, they took SF2/FHD base mechanics, mixed in some basic Samurai Spirits elements (but certainly not feel), and added a few newer combo elements. I've never heard about any competition for the game. Despite the smooth controls, the atmosphere (art style, characters, backgrounds, music) never grabbed my attention the same way Fighters History did. I always thought it was amusing how in the PS version, the developers adjusted Mizoguchi's uppercut special from a non-SF2 b,db,d motion to an SF2-style dp motion (along with some of Yungmie's specials in Fuunsaiki).GaijinPunch wrote:Speaking of Data East, where does Suikoenbu fit in? Unique, sure. But it clearly hurt competitive play by empowering runaway turtling. In fact, abusing hit & run tactics were how I managed to beat the otherwise unforgiving AI.Domino wrote:What about Galaxy Fight guys? I always thought the no border gameplay was unique in a way.

I remember the first time playing Fighters History, didn't give a fuck if it looked like Street Fighter, all I know is it felt good to play and was easy to pull the moves off that I could figure out (Ray mainly).

Re: The 3rd tier 2D fighting game thread
I've been meaning to play Suiko Enbu. Awhile ago I was reading The Water Margin novel that Suiko Enbu is based on, and some things I've heard about the game just confound me... like that Chao Gai is the final boss and is apparently evil (in the novel, he's a noble outlaw and he in fact dies heroically). Lots of weird things. But then maybe its an AU or something.CIT wrote:I also like the Suiko Enbu games, Dragoon Might, Asura Buster, and later Gundam 2D fighters.
Personally... I have a soft spot for World Heroes. Yes, the original pretty much is a Street Fighter ripoff, but its a pretty decent one. Pretty much though I like all Neo-Geo fighters.
