Better OST of the Espgaludas?
The original Espgaluda is one of those games whose OST especially caught my attention (whether it be considered good or bad). Which OST do you guys like more?
Re: Better OST of the Espgaludas?
Espgaluda 2 by far. It already has segments of the first game's soundtrack in Stage 5, arranged into a very energetic package.
As far as which version of the Espgaluda 2 OST is better, I would say the arrange by Ryu Umemoto is superior other than the stage 5 track.

Definitely the second, it's a lot more distinctive and exciting to my ears than its predecessor.
Re: Better OST of the Espgaludas?
The first. It has some memorable themes like the one at the first stage (that repeats near the end of the game), while I can't find anything worth listening in the second one. Neither is particularly great though.

I agree pretty much entirely with Hagane on this matter.

Galuda 2's AST. In the boss theme, they even used that "Sunset Riders" sample that was heavily utilized in Konami arcade games.

ESPGaluda II for iPhone-Android. It has great music with guitar and violin solos. Galuda 2 OST was my favorite till I heard the mobile OST.

Overall I'd say they're all about equal, they all have songs I like but also songs I don't.

the first. i don't see how this could be anything but "distinctive", especially compared to ii; it sounds nothing like any other cave game and has weird harsh instruments everywhere (ending).

Galuda II's soundtrack is quite mediocre compared to the first one's.

Ups, I forgot Supersweep's remixed soundtrack from the PS2 arrange mode. The perfect Remix album is, as the name implies, perfect.

Espgaluda II Black Label > Espgaluda > Espgaluda II
Re: Better OST of the Espgaludas?
First by far, I always found the second really disappointing and not memorable at all. I know there were one or two standout exceptions on the 2 ost but they may have actually been from the arrange soundtrack...
All said and done neither really stand out to me among other cave soundtracks.

Yeah, I literally cannot recall a single Espgaluda II track, whereas several Espgaluda tracks are quite memorable.

Re: Better OST of the Espgaludas?
Both are nice, but I think Espgaluda's OST is better. The songs are more memorable.
Re: Better OST of the Espgaludas?
Galuda II for the boss music, Galuda I for everything else.

Re: Better OST of the Espgaludas?
I have to go with the Perfect Remix soundtrack of Espgaluda, which takes from a better soundtrack and isn't just an arrange of the first game's music like the second game. Well at least the second game uses themes from the first in most stages. Why the Perfect Remix soundtrack? If not only for this track: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aVW5reDQPc4

I love them both. The first game's stage 3 music is probably my favourite of either game's soundtrack.

Re: Better OST of the Espgaludas?
The Espgaluda OST is awesome.
Re: Better OST of the Espgaludas?
Yeah, I feel the same as you. There is definately something very unique & memorible about the first one. Really made me stand up and notice. Sad I can't say the same about the second one, as I can't even remember how it sounds? But to be fair, I just found that it was playable in MAME, so, yeah, didn't play it as much & don't know what the 360 remix sounds like. Well, maybe I should fire up some Esp 1 & II games today and see if I still feel the same about it? (Been on a Toaplan, Raiden, & now PC-Engine verts shmup binge. All sqeezing me out of cave games completely).MrOldSchoolCool wrote:The original Espgaluda is one of those games whose OST especially caught my attention (whether it be considered good or bad). EDIT - k, just fired up my MAME I got from EmuDreams (only one that plays newer Cave games without sound issues) and fired up Esp II again. Up to Stage 3. ... And it's crap. By comparison to the first, that is. But this is just my opinion. As I love the first one's tunes that much more. (Plus I can remember that games tunes/vibe/feeling. Part two all I remember is some gargled up BS effects, like too much spice to cover bad food, & that weido's laugh. And I just played that game).

Re: Better OST of the Espgaludas?
MAME is not a great way to listen to the CV1000 games' music because of the amount of compression used in the ROMs versus actual soundtrack rips. Just saiyan.
