Voltage Differens

Post by EmperorZelos »

I have some japanese electronics with no inherent EU power supply, so I recently got a 110V stepdowner with Japanese/US power plug, I know it is 10V above japanese standard but to make sure, would it work still if I plugged it into that? It is only for electronics.

10v shouldnt make a difference unless its very sensitive equipment. Also check the hertz its at.

the main thing is a framemeister and it is 50hz but the power adapters I have there all support both 50 and 60

10v extra shouldnt kill it. Generally most consumer appliances are made to deal with +/- 50v or so, but it really depends on the appliances. It should say that somewhere on the box. keep the hertz setting the same as the framemiester or you may get interference patterns on the output.

Japan uses both 50 and 60Hz, so japanese PSUs are fine with the 50Hz in Europe. This being said, the Framemeister itself runs at 5V DC anyway. AC coupled electronics (old CRTs) are long gone...

Ah... in that case all you need is a adaptor that outputs 5v DC in the kind of plug the framemiester accepts. you dont even need a stepdown.

something like this
