I prefer BK2's overall stage variety and music. It's my favourite of the three, although a lot of the game's brilliance is down to its seminal soundtrack. I actually think in technical terms BK3 is probably more fun to play: the roll, levelling up of your special and the way you can recharge super attacks to avoid taking a health penalty make it really limber. It's also got the best weapon pick ups: double tap-running into that long slide and cracking people with bats is incredibly satisfying. I like its grit, too, and Koshiro's tunes match the visual style well.
Of course this is the Japanese bare knuckle 3 and not the completely fudged western release. That game's a horrible nightmare. What a way to flush a developer's hard work right down the toilet.

SOR3 soundtrack never bothered me. I thought lightning already stroke twice in the series, so I was content with the few good tracks it still produced. My problem with the game was mentioned in another topic by someone: attacks lack weight, it kind of ruins the experience for me.
SOR2 is the best in the trilogy overall, but it's poorly paced
SOR1 has my favorite soundtrack out of the three (just slightly edges sor2's)

I just downloaded the fan made Streets of Rage Remake (SORR), but haven't had the time to play it yet. What's the general consensus on SORR? Is it any good? From reading about it, it looks like a great mash-up of all 3 parts with quite a few customisation options, where you can mix up the different playstyles of the 3 games.

It's good. A bit easy in too many parts, but good.
