Re: Battle Garegga *newer*
Thanks!
Definitely not.
Next goal is an E which should be possible if i just get together a consistently good run.
It's time someone took over the Golden crown from Rando. If nobody else is gonna do it i might as well.

Rando's sitting there for around 10 years now. The next decade is yours!

Does anyone know where the infinite pattern is? Apparently you can't clear the game if you use it?

Re: Battle Garegga *newer*
There are a few game-breaking bugs to my knowledge.NTSC-J wrote:Does anyone know where the infinite pattern is? Apparently you can't clear the game if you use it?
One, which I have experienced myself, is the right-most tank in stage 2 just after the birds rolling all the way up to Mad Ball and preventing it from timing out (but you can't end the level either). I've a picture of it taken on my phone, but the quality if pretty bad because I was really going "WTF is happening there?" (Kamui later confirmed me that it's a very rare bug which is known in the Japanese community).
Another is the green zako in level 5 that you can milk potentially forever, but it then have the same effect on Black Heart (no time out, but invincible) when the scrolling of the level comes to an end (I guess some kind of memory overflow). This one was explained to me by Kamui, I've never seen it myself.

Unless you just suicided, in which case the rank should be a bit lower.

C,976,230 - Plasmo - Stage 7 - Bornnam (ABC)
Had around A,3 after stage 5 and lost my medalcount rather unlucky somehwhere during stage 6.
I still can't believe how difficult this game is with Bornnam. BHMKII is more or less impossible since you can't destroy the mines with your shot anymore (and I'm playing on very low rank). I don't think that I can get the 1cc.
What's next, Batrider or Pink Sweets?

Not even with high AF frequency?
Great score btw!

Re: Battle Garegga *newer*
I usually have a very high shot frequency there and still get killed by invincible mines. One trick is to stay closer to BHMKII in order to have an even higher frequency. It doesn't always work though.Eaglet wrote:Wow!Plasmo wrote:can't destroy the mines with your shot anymore

I haven't tried to play around with the special shot power up yet. That's probably another more or less neccessary trick to beat this boss.

Re: Battle Garegga *newer*
Alright, looks like I have totally underestimated the rank increase from a higher shot frequency. I used to get the maximum shot frequency using the slowdown from bombing the flamingoes. By stage 6 the game was barely playable. Only with pure luck I was able to get to stage 7 and BHMKII was sheer impossible, since his mines were indeed invincible (and he would always time out because of the higher resistance).
Today I've tried a credit with a rather low freqency (still higher than default though) and immediately made it to BHMKII without too much problems netting an easy C,3mill. This game feels like a walk in the park now and I can finally try to get higher scores and a 1cc. Looks like I'll keep playing Garegga for some time longer now.
I've really learned my lesson on how brutal the rank increase from a high shot frequency can be.

Re: Battle Garegga *newer*
Yeah it's absolutely brutal!
Managed to set maximum AF once on stage 1 through a small finger twitch... but followed through with the credit just to see how much it affected. Made it just to The Wall but that was with a lot of survival focused play. Rank was nuts.
Looking forward to seeing you bring the Bornnam score up to and perhaps past KETs'.

How do you even survive stage 5 this way? I'd like to see a replay of this.Plasmo wrote:I used to get the maximum shot frequency using the slowdown from bombing the flamingoes.

Re: Battle Garegga *newer*
Stage 5 is still somewhat possible. It gets really hairy in stage 6 though. Most of the tanks and popcorn enemies won't die from Bornnam's weak shot - Instant bullethell minus the small hitbox.bkk wrote:How do you even survive stage 5 this way? Oh, and I won't even submit this garbage score:

Re: Battle Garegga *newer*
It's only stage 6 that gets particularly bad with rank if you bump the autofire up too early. I usually have it at +1 default from the start which gives me enough power without making rank crazy. In stage 6 I actually find it safer to not bother with search options.
Good score Plasmo. I would post something new, but I started playing Pink Sweets again. :3

Re: Battle Garegga *newer*
Search is essentially important for stage 6 to collect enough bomb items. For a really good score you need all you can get for the big laser turrets, a bunch of stuff in stage 7 and of course for BHMKII.In stage 6 I actually find it safer to not bother with search options.

Re: Battle Garegga *newer*
Even with Search you're likely to not get enough given how weak and stupid they are, and will have to make up the rest through suicides. If I have Search I'll generally only have it for the first half of the base, the rest I go through with something else that's better suited to all-round coverage.Plasmo wrote:Search is essentially important for stage 6 to collect enough bomb items. Also, I avoid bombing the laser cannons if I don't think I'll be able to make up enough bombs by the end of the stage. Just the way I play it.
