I recall reading about one of Robotron's posts about "worshipping in the Church of Shmups". Quite a hilarious read that post. One fellow shmupper chimed in an "Amen". May you rest in peace, fellow shmupper Robotron.

Actually it was a cool idea, but some people became so fond of it they still haven't changed it back. And it's starting to get tedious because I tend to use avatars as a means to identify users. >_>

Reviving this topic to just let everyone know I wrote an article on Robo over the weekend. I don't know if most of the people here really knew a great deal about what he was up in the local scene, but aside from being a great guy, he was also a great unifier and a great friend.

Just want to pay my respects, only recently started posting on this board after a long gap, and I was only recently thinking that there were a few 'big names' MIA from back when I was a regular, Twitch and Robo being the two that sprang instantly to mind. Fucking shame.

So I don't mean to make a reply on such an old thread, but today marks the unfortunate 3rd anniversary of Robotron's passing.

Since the funeral, a lot of us lived our lives again, usually paying tribute on this day and reuniting every now and then. Towards winter of 2010, I believe most of his possessions were sold due to personal reasons. Thanks to "kccttzj", I was able to get his copy of Gradius Gaiden. The last time I saw him, this was the game we played...so you can say this serves as a memento in addition to a great game. NEVER getting rid of it.

I hate the fact that Robo is gone, but in peace knowing that he's in a better place and was able to provide very good memories with a lot of people.

Missed locally, too. Oddly, when I see Jhonny Peralta of the Detroit Tigers, his face reminds me of Kinn a bit.

Kinn and I had a shared love of View Point for the Neo-Geo (my favorite game, of any genre, ever), and when he passed, I was hoping to be able to buy his copy of the game, but I didn't know who to ask about it, and it seemed...coarse will be the word I choose, I guess, to pursue it very far. I didn't want to be a ghoul or anything.

If anyone on this board knows how I might obtain it, I'm listening. It's not that I don't have a copy of View Point for the Neo of my own...I do. It would be special to have his, though. I miss his wry sense of wit, and I miss seeing his info on the left of the screen, especially the "WE KILL PEOPLE" thing about Detroit. Good stuff.

Thanks for bringing him to mind again. It's always nice to think of him.

Terrible news. For me Robotron will be remembered as one of the most friendly, laid back and positive forumites on any forum ever. Best wishes to his closest family and friends.
