NGC's Swiss goes to "No Signal" on Wii...
I recently tried out getting the Swiss application to work on the Wii via this tutorial up to a HD TV via Component:
http://gbatemp.net/threads/how-to-set-u ... ii.291505/
But unfortunately even after tinkering with a lot of options "No Signal" turns up when I try to boot games.
How can this be fixed? Is it the fact I'm using the Wii's Component or something? Even when nothing is forced (480/576p & 16:9) it still won't work.

What do you need Swiss for?
If you want to play GCN games you can easily copy your discs to USB / SD with usbloader gx and boot them with diosmios.

PAL NGC games need 480/576p forcing, as well as widescreen forcing.blizzz wrote:What do you need Swiss for?

progressive scan forcing doesn't work with a lot of games, even on a real Gamecube.

DIOS MIOS supports 480p/576p forcing and widescreen forcing. So does devolution actually. Ripping your entire collection to a HDD and never having to deal with discs and software that doesn't actually support Wii (Swiss) is well worth it in my opinion.BitFaced wrote:PAL NGC games need 480/576p forcing, as well as widescreen forcing.blizzz wrote:What do you need Swiss for?

Forcing PAL games to 480p is as already mentioned pretty buggy. Recommend you buy US copies of your favorite games before they get expensive and rare.

But I'm not always using progressive scan; as specifically mentioned this also happens when I force neither widescreen or progressive on games.BuckoA51 wrote:progressive scan forcing doesn't work with a lot of games, even on a real Gamecube.
Are you sure progressive and widescreen can be successfully forced on DIOS MIOS? I don't think Widescreen really worked successfully for me on it and I don't know how to use 576p instead of 480p. And Devolution was a pain in the ass for me to start getting running at all.ZellSF wrote:DIOS MIOS supports 480p/576p forcing and widescreen forcing. So does devolution actually. I think I could force 576p instead, right?

480p and widescreen, definitely. 576p, not sure.BitFaced wrote:But I'm not always using progressive scan; as specifically mentioned this also happens when I force neither widescreen or progressive on games.BuckoA51 wrote:progressive scan forcing doesn't work with a lot of games, even on a real Gamecube. Are you sure progressive and widescreen can be successfully forced on DIOS MIOS? Remember that widescreen forcing has compatibility issues, it does not work in all games. Same for 480p/576p forcing on PAL games.

Must retry that out then. After all, SSBM had the exact same "zoomed-in image" problem at 480p/576p unless it was 60HZ as it would in Swiss. Though having said that, the difference between interlaced and progressive may of not been that phenomenal to me, but that's just me.ZellSF wrote:480p and widescreen, definitely. 576p, not sure.

And Swiss had incompatibility issues with forced progressive and widescreen too. You can't expect it to be perfect.

Re: NGC's Swiss goes to "No Signal" on Wii...
UPDATE:
I'm kinda convinced it may be running at true (480) progressive but Widescreen doesn't work. Apparently according to this:
http://gbatemp.net/threads/dios-mios-li ... ng.347407/
These things shouldn't be working AT ALL for a physical disc, which was heavily my intent.
Can I achieve Widescreen/progressive with either of these things?

Not from discs no. Why is playing from discs important? Really like those loading times and drive noise?BitFaced wrote:UPDATE:

Because I like the whole "use my physical copy" thing? Besides, I don't know if I'd have a good amount of digital space for that?ZellSF wrote:Not from discs no. Why is playing from discs important? Really like those loading times and drive noise?BitFaced wrote:UPDATE:

Since there is a ? in there I assume you want information. I have a 320 GB HDD and have just about every Wii game I care about on it, I'm sure you could manage with much much less (80 GB maybe) if you delete games you're not currently playing on it.BitFaced wrote:Because I like the whole "use my physical copy" thing? If you like physical copies, saving them from wear and tear is also another positive.

Yeaaaaaaaaaah but for now I'd like to know how to correctly support the Swiss on PAL Wii.ZellSF wrote:I'm sure you could manage with much much less (80 GB maybe) if you delete games you're not currently playing on it.

So... Any idea how I can get forced progressive/widescreen GameCube games, through disc, on the Wii?

Re: NGC's Swiss goes to "No Signal" on Wii...
I doubt anyone will be able to help you, since Swiss is so far from the optimal way of playing Gamecube games that most of us aren't using it. Some information you have not given at all yet though:
1: Do PAL Gamecube games boot at all (without Swiss)?
2: Which games have you tried?
3: Are you remembering to keep a Gamecube disc in the drive while using Swiss?

If there are any other ways of getting forced progressive/widescreen GameCube games through disc on the original consoles then please let me know.ZellSF wrote:I doubt anyone will be able to help you, since Swiss is so far from the optimal way of playing Gamecube games that most of us aren't using it. 1. Yes
2. I think just Melee, Animal Crossing and maybe one of the Sonic Adventure games.
3. Maybe. I'll try that again.

UPDATE: Yup, tried that and it still persists. Maybe it's the way I have to reinstall IOS236 every now and then to get it working or the options I'm toying with.

Probably not. Once you're in Gamecube mode (have started Swiss) then IOS shouldn't matter. Have you read this?:

I see. Maybe try out that reset button technique next time.ZellSF wrote:Probably not. Once you're in Gamecube mode (have started Swiss) then IOS shouldn't matter. Have you read this?:

Re: NGC's Swiss goes to "No Signal" on Wii...
UPDATE!
Trying it by setting the Wii to interlaced (which would be a pain anyway because I'd constantly have to switch) results in either nothing being changed or sticking on the "100%" screen, but I think, maybe by just changing the game's video options and maybe after screwing around with the options, I got it to work, progressive and widescreen. With Melee at least, I'll try some other games as well.
EDIT: Melee and the two Sonic Adventures work both progressive and widescreen, but Animal Crossing doesn't seem to work at all.
