Gunbird Trivia

Post by D »

From klov.com

Trivia
Perhaps the first arcade game with an openly gay character (Tetsu), and a pedophile (Ash).

Ash a pedophile? This is really shocking to me.
Gay, whatever....
But a pedophile, all pedophiles who act....should be shot, no matter what background they have had (abused themselves, whatever)

They should be shot at point blank range. This may sound shocking, but when you think about it, it makes sense.

I'll never play Gunbird again. I will destroy my copy, I'm serious about this. I'm not selling it.

And I don't even have children.....

What if someone used magic to turn your girlfriend back into a child?
The biggest unanswered question is where is the money? [1CCS]

^I'm sure that's one of the storylines from the game.

Oh now I understand.
Sorry, I had my head in my ass. (I took a shit before I could think)
I'm Sorry for calling you smart. I take it back.

Did you see that? I took back an insult, but I insulted him again by calling him not smart. How does this English work then? *confused*

Guy with the glasses and jetpack; Jason Last, if you're mobile lifin' it.

Gunbird's a really funny game, nearly all the end sequences had me laughing. Check out vgmuseum.com if you're interested in seeing them all, screen by screen.

The nudity of Maron from when she was turning from a girl into an adult was taken out of the Saturn port, but everything else was left in -- pedophilism and all!

I didn't know about this pedophilia business in Gunbird. Is it present in GB 2 as well? When I bother to pay attention to the storyline in GB 2, they always seem to be talking about getting some medicine or other. I usually just skip the cutscenes.

I'm pretty sure that despite being married, Aine was gay.

Speaking of gay, Tetsu in the original was too. Weird ending for him...

Holy crap, capt.! That's not even all that subtle. Did they change the text for the US release? Because that just seems a bit sinister, really. I have no problem with sexual content generally--gay, straight, whatever-- but here we are talking about a nine-year-old girl.

I'm not going to destroy my copy because this is one of my favorites of all time, but I think it just slipped a bit on my top 25 list.

Yeah, it's like she's in on the fun. The whole thing is a bit eerie and creepy-- it has the feel of a kind of sophisticated, dark comic book. Maybe the plot here is rather complex and interesting, but my guess is that this is a simple happy ending, that we're supposed to identify with the guy and rejoice-- pretty pathetic, if that's right.

Psikyo often used seediness to attract players (nude pilots at the end of Strikers 45, mahjong games, this - they fit in well with the Choaniki franchise). I really don't care though. Stories in shooters: junk.

So, you're really thinking about destroying the game!?
Its just a back story...who cares if the characters have "issues". Its just a vertical shooter plain and simple.

Come on, look at the rest of the endings (especially any of the team endings with Aine). Obviously none of them is meant to be taken seriously. You're supposed to laugh at the ridiculous way the characters' wishes turn out, not "identify with" anyone.

Oh, and Marion is really 17. The reason she looks 9 is because Ash used his magic mirror wish to make her age backwards...
