I think I might have a similar problem. My Yahoo toolbar (chrome version) imploded or something. It starts to load, then vanishes. There are several other internet related bugs/annoyances.
Anyone remember the days when all websites had as far as ads go were a couple banners and the occasional pop-up? I miss those days. Now there are these ridiculous video-ads complete with sound and all sorts of shit.

Not having a best friend that isn't a cat. I think these things grow scarce as you get older, or so it seems.

People who don't understand umbrella etiquette. While I was out the other day, it wasn't raining, but the ground was wet. Despite this fact, people apparently still have to have their umbrellas open on crowded sidewalks (and of course they don't pay any attention to where they're going). I didn't get hit with a single drop of rain, but I almost got hit in the face with at least 10 umbrellas.
My other favorite variation of this gripe is when it is raining and people don't close their umbrellas when going down the stairs into the subway. No problem, I understand that you can't survive a drop of rain. Please take forever while those of us with a little consideration are getting wet. Also, try to hit a couple of people on your way down.

Re: Little things that annoy the hell out of you
Right now, game developers are pissing me off. They keep whining that they need new hardware in order innovate, which is nonsense, to put it mildly! First of all, AFIK, there's not going to be that big of a leap in graphics between this current generation, and the next one. It's not gonna be like the leap, say, between the PS2 and PS3. And how much of a difference will there be in terms of graphics, between (for example) Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, on the Xbox One and Xbox 360, and the PS3 and PS4? I doubt anyone with an HDTV bigger then 50 inches will notice, if at all.
Honestly, in the later days of the SNES's lifespan, did we hear Rare whining that they needed 64-bit hardware from Nintendo so that they could innovate? Hell no; they came out with the Donkey Kong Country games, which were ground-breaking classics!
Stop making the same lame-ass excuses for giving gamers the same game in different packaging, or do something else. Right now, the thing that I like most about my PS3, is that it's a Blu-Ray player. I'm really glad I kept my "tube" TV, because classic consoles (which for me are any that are 16-bit and older) have better games.

Microsoft said that the XBox One console will have 4K Ultra Definition TV support for enhanced definition (besides the usual up to 1080p support with the current-gen HDTV platform in place). Can't say if that's the case with the upcoming Sony PS4 console with possible 4K support though (perhaps through a software update to allow it to play those new-fangled 4K UD movie discs).

Re: Little things that annoy the hell out of you
Really, graphics are already so good that the real room for improvement lies in sheer processing power, as in how many objects can be handled by the game, how big the active gameworld can be, etc. But honestly, even with NES or Gameboy games, good programmers don't complain about the limited colour palette - they work with what they have and produce great games around it.dave4shmups wrote:Right now, game developers are pissing me off. Re: Little things that annoy the hell out of you
Well said, Dave. Games like VVVVVV and MSX Metal Gear didn't need powerful hardware to be fun and innovative. Learn to work within the limits of a system, developers. That's what gave us the Marios, Sonics, Mega Mans and Ninja Gaidens back then. (Granted, VVVVVV runs on PC, but I'm sure it could be done on a 16-bit system and the gameplay would stay intact.)

Sorry, was I was trying to say was something like, people who think it's essential to watch videos to learn how to play.
I could care less how other people play their games, but it annoys the hell out of me when someone tells me "you need to watch more videos to learn how to play properly" as if it's impossible to do it otherwise.

Yeah, I saw the 4K-compatible HDMI cable that's included with the Xbox One in Microsoft's unboxing video. I just think it will take a while before 4K HDTVs drop in price to the levels that "regular" HDTVs are at now.PC Engine Fan X! wrote:Microsoft said that the XBox One console will have 4K Ultra Definition TV support for enhanced definition (besides the usual up to 1080p support with the current-gen HDTV platform in place). Ever since updating to iOS 7, my mail app has keeps the red new items circle on the home screen after I have read or archived a message. Usually the app itself has recognized that the message is on longer unread (but not always) but I have to resync to get the notification circle to clear.

Needing to run the Windows port of a program in Wine because the Linux port has stupid issues [see: VisualBoy Advance [has some atrocious timing issue -- runs uncapped at a fairly constant 400%, has super-stuttery framerate when capped], Wings3D [random garbled graphics, switching Mesa to software mode on this machine made it unusably slow], etc].
I like Linux, it handles lots of stuff nicely, but I really shouldn't have to do this. It's particularly annoying when Wine doesn't handle things nicely [I was floored at how well Wings works under Wine though, it's 100% fine, and maybe better than the native version because it doesn't use the absolutely shit internal file browser].

I had to correct myself, too. I originally wrote "I couldn't care less."

Craigslist sellers who are complete assholes.
I've been on the lookout for a cab in the LA area for a while. On at least three separate occasions, I've sent a polite email to the seller explaining that I'm very interested and have money in hand, but can't afford to make a trip out to the cab unless I know it's in good condition. So I've asked for info on things like use history, monitor burn-in, monitor model, and sometimes requested pics of the sides/cp/wiring if the seller didn't provide clear shots (which occurs all too often).
I've either been completely ignored, told that they would hold for me and send me pics (neither of which were actually true), or, in the most recent case, had them update the listing to reflect my 'stupidity' as an interested buyer:
