Any recommended modders for N64 RGB in the US?

Post by Forks »

I've had a Framemeister for a few months, and have been interested in getting my N64, and (eventually) AV Famicom modded for RGB output.

I'm not comfortable doing this sort of mod on consoles myself, though... can anyone recommend some reliable modders in the US who can do the RGB mod for N64? I understand there may be a few versions of the mod... so for reference, the cable I bought for my SNES is this one. I assume it's possible to make a mod that's available for the same cable... unless there's some reason a different cable and/or mod is better for the N64, I don't know. The people who make that cable don't offer the mod service themselves anymore.

I can do it for about $40, and the mod I use is compatible with "off the shelf" NTSC SNES SCART cables.

If you an want easier/but still soldering solution this guy sells a pre-assembled amp. I loaded one of these on my 64 with no issues.

I might be interested! Can you point me to any of your previous work? Would the mod be compatible with the same cable that I linked above (that I use with my SNES)? Also, one concern I had, which may not necessarily dissuade me from doing the mod, was if it disabled the use of S-video output, or if it simply enabled the use of RGB. I was just curious.

Here's my mod thread on AtariAge which includes a few examples of my work: http://atariage.com/forums/topic/149775 ... k-is-back/

As I stated before, my mod is totally compatible with NTSC RGB cables, including the one you linked to. This mod also won't affect the other outputs.

Thanks! If I were to send the system to you soon, what could I expect in terms of turnaround? I've got some video projects planned, and want to be sure that I'm not without my console when I might need it.
