I would of put the same had anyone else being top poster.
Even if that was the case (and I believe you Richie, I've traded with you and you seem like a good guy) I still figured it would sort of devolve (word? It is now)
BTW: Neon, not to "bash" you or anything, but Dave apparently suffers from anxiety from time to time...its not that bad of a mental illness.
I'm also sure he grows tired of it being mentioned all the time.
In other words, this thread might not have even meant a thing to him or bothered him, but now...he has to be reminded that he has a "mental illness" all over again. Get my point?
I think it's pretty bad, judging by what he's stated publicly in the forum. Years of therapy, inability to be employed, medication...yeah, that's pretty fucking serious.

Maybe what I said was a little overly dramatic but I think the last thing a guy who has been through all that needs is to have people ganging up on him elementary-school-playground-style for something he has no control over. I've traded with Dave and talked with him and he's a really nice guy. I think the best way we can help him is positive reactions to posts of his that contribute, and ignoring the ones people find 'superfluous.'

There's plenty of us on this forum, myself included, who could use some mental help. Not the least of whom are in the 'I'm staying in Texas and 'riding out' the hurricane to be hardcore' category...

But to the other part of the topic, fuck post counts. I'd rather be like Rando or PaCrappa...they have a low post count but their posts are always quality. Also, Dave's count is falsely inflated due to his habit of posting twice in a row, responding to individual posts when that all could be consolidated into one post (which you do need to work on, Dave).

Can this be locked yet? I'm not one for thread locking, but this has the potential to be pretty hurtful and I hate that.

It's not a 100% hate thread, but the sheer talking about it can't be good on the guy. The quicker it's locked, the less likely anyone is to get angry/offended/hurt/whatever (if any of those haven't happened already).

^ Are you guys counting from where you stand by post count, or in which the order you became a member?
If thats the case, the memberlist only keeps track of the order in which you joined.

BTW: My post count would be considerably higher than it is now, since the fact that I've been around since the "early years".

Also, not to make "light" of Daves anxiety, I just figured that having the highest post count shouldn't really mean anything bad.
Then again, I never start threads like these anyway.
Usually its either a celebration of a 1CC, or my natural high from my Chevelle.
Then again, I can ramble on about games like Gradius too!! 8)

As far as the thread becoming locked, well its nothing offensive...if Dave thinks its a bad thing, then maybe the mods can delete the whole friggin thread then.

Stay tuned for more drama and intrigue...at Shmups.com!

Oh, sorry. I kinda goofed here. Twitch said that his age is the same as his placement on the member list. On that, Kiken is number 3, I think. In order time they joined the forum. And I'm 50th on that.

EDIT: No. He's actually 24. Oops.

*looks at memberlist*

Wow, nearly six pages of people who've never actually posted. Not that there's anything wrong with that. It's just kind of surprising.

Well, I'm number 65. What that means, I have no idea.

Breakfast tacos are the best, IMO. Particularly chorizo con huevos.

+1!

Locking threads is stupid in this case. Mods and Admins need to edit content and warn the people concerned via PM.

Thats how it works on professionally ran forums. Not that this is not professionally ran because it really doesnt need to be. Just a tinker here and there. I think 99% of the main forum members are courtious and helpful in all cases.

I occasionaly post on another (music-related) board which has a habit of deleting threads that offend the mod in any way. Pisses me right off.

Deleting a thread is overkill.

Just edit the contents that offend.

Anyone remember when Something Awful's forum used to bash some kid who had asperger's syndrome and liked guns? He went out and killed his neighbours before killing himself with a shotgun. Not that I am saying that Dave or any of you would ever do that, I'm just saying that people should try to show a little sensitivity once in awhile...

You totally missed the moral to that story.
The moral is: that kid was a fucking douchenozzle.
