I believe that the biggest reason we people haven't yet reached this point is greed.

Actually, this could be beyond that. That's the point of pacifism, and we could do BETTER than pacifism - we could be non-violent.

And the main rule of non-violence is

"Do to other what you would like them to do to you" (My english is probably wrong here

). If people could deeply understand that and live by this rule, among a few more other things, then we could start to solve some problems in the world. Though this is not easy, its not an utopic view either... and even if this utopic.. hell, I can't see why we shouldn't aim for the best, even if it seems to be impossible.
