Maybe I'm misunderstanding this whole thread?
Did you leave the folder on an air hockey table and forget about it, or was it stolen while you weren't looking?

I would hardly call someone who found something a thief!!!
Hell, a good friend of mine found a Nintendo in a parking lot. Somebody "forgot" to put it in their car, or it fell out or something.

Ah... guess I wasn't specific as I should have been, when starting this thread. ^^; Gomen-nasai.

What happaned was, I accidentally left it behind. I didn't realize it until the very next day, about noon-ish, and as I said before: I nearly passed out. Literally. Yellow vision, numb face, the whole nine yards. It just hit me all of a sudden.

There is a chance that one of my friends there (I have 4 or 5 at her college) saw it, knew it was mine, and picked it up for me. Still, by now they would have gotten ahold of my girlfriend, and let her know... so the odds of that being the case are slim.

It was my own stupid mistake, and believe me, it still bothers me that I let those games leave my sight... Half of my anger regarding this situation is directed at the faceless, nameless thief, and the other half at myself. I should have kept that case on a goddamn leash, or otherwise attached it to me... or just not bring those games out of the house at all.

Hey, if you carry your stuff around in a binder, then at least you have the cases at home, right? The you can save some money replacing your lost games with disc-only ones...

Well, you're still refering to the individual as a "faceless, nameless thief, when the person clearly found a binder laying around after you left it behind.
Did you have your name or anything on the binder? If not, how would you expect the person to contact you. I guess your only chance would be to check the "Lost and Found" section of the college.

I'm an honest person, but if I found something like that, I think I would keep it. Even though, I already own most of those games, I could sell some on Ebay.
But you never know, I'd probably freak out that someone around here plays that stuff...I think I might even get in contact with the owner just to make a new "Shmup friend"!

Heh... Yeah, one of my friends from her college is a shmuppy... and probably the only shmuppy attending that college. ^^; And.. unfortunately, I didn't keep my personal info in that binder... I should have planned ahead, i guess. We asked at the lost and found some time ago, and nothing turned up... maybe things have changed by now, I'll have to get a chance to go there this week and see. Also gonna post up a "lost" poster or two in the gaming lounge.. ^^; The situation looks pretty dim though. :/ If nothing turns up in the next week, I think I'm just gonna move on, eventually re-purchase my favorites, and pray to God that the thief be smitten. ...smited? ...smote. ...no, i think smitten was the correct term, heh. ^^;

I think I would try to return it, especially in what sounds like a campus longue. I mean, you find it in the street, parkinglot, etc., I think it is pretty much fair game, but in a the setting described, I think I would (and you too, Twitchdoctor) would take it to the front desk.

That said, I've been walking down the street and found a $50 bill blowing around. Sure, I'm gonna ask around. 'Is this your $50 bill?' 'Why, of course it is!'

Randomness-- I've walked downtown with a friend on multiple occasions (different friends, rather), they end up spotting a $5, 10, or 20, and I'm just like... "wow... awesome... grumbleLuckyMofuckGrumble..."

...wtf, I'm the one who used to have an eagle eye... (when i was a kid, I was a total insect nerd... and could spot a praying mantis hiding in the foliage from 50 feet away) I suppose I still do, seeing as it takes complete concentration-- and the ability to see everything that moves on-screen-- to play shmups, particularly navigating through curtain-fire.

But yeah, this was a campus lounge... such honest students, they are.
