I wish she was a tad faster on the DC version. :(
yea thanks, i was definitely seeing things that day.

but after playing for some time with tetsu on GB1, everything seems lighting fast, i even tought that hei cob wasnt slow that day.

damn, the stage 5 boss yellow spread gets me everytime, i remember getting to stage 7 on the DC with alukard, but i just bombed that part twice, which kinda sucks as i think ill need like 3 bombs for the 7th boss...:(
i quite dont get it.
switched to valpiro now too, while kinda slow he's more fun to play than alukard, and with his stronger firepower there's less shit to dodge, besides, i cant think of too many disadvantadges of his slow speed due to the level and pattern design.

a great game this is, dunno what i was smoking when i tought strikers 2 was better.

I still use two bombs on the stage seven boss. I could beat him after the first bomb, but I use a bomb a second time to milk.

For the stage five boss first yellow spread, I am quite consistent now(finally). About an 80% success rate. I stay in the middle, and keep a very close eye on the bullet(about 1 second into the pattern) that is aimed at you. Then move a character's length left, twice.

The second yellow spread I bomb for points. Another reason I bomb is because sometimes the game slightly "pauses" for a second during that part, which throws the whole thing out of whack. It happened to me about a dozen times, and caused me to get hit. So I just bomb.

With Valpiro, the part that scares me is stage six with the four statues, and the part right before it. Sometimes as you are finishing avoiding the bullets from those little guys, and a statue from the opposite corner comes alive, it's hectic to rush over to Valpiro Punch it before it shoots. But he sure is damn powerful.

Exactly. As this pattern unfolds you'll see three waves of bullets- the third one has the aimed bullet that will hit you. Begin your two dodges here. The only thing that is difficult here is the speed.
The second yellow spread I bomb for points.
Bastard. ;]

This happens pretty rarely, but boy when it does it pisses me off. Usually this pattern (2nd yellow spread) only moves in one direction, but occasionally it decides to move back in the opposite direction. That's another unpleasant surprise. Have you noticed this IlMrm?

That part right before the statues is a pain in the ass. On a good run I usually ignore finishing up the coin chaining in favor of taking out those enemies quickly. I always play as if the bottom left statue will activate first just in case. It's the only one I take out with a secondary attack, hate trying to dodge it. The others are OK.

Nice work Tomtom, and I'm glad to see a few people are still playing.

It's a real shame I don't live in SF anymore or you and I could get together and sort out how to clear this thing IlMrm.

:D I bomb here and the stage six boss second form's spread, kinda to make up for the points lost from broken chains. Seriously I've lost more lives getting hit while going for chains and being out of position, then from honest good hits from enemies.

Oh yes. I keep my eye on the halfway points between the boss and my character. If I keep my eye on my character I usually get hit, because I can't seem to follow the bullets quick enough, and I get scared and confused for a second and wander into a bullet. Imagine my surprise when the boss shifted the other way. So between this and the slowdown/pause thing I just bomb.

It'd be fun to play two player too, but I have a feeling it'll be a mess.

Hate to sound defeated(again), but I realized from playing the second round's random stages so much is that I probably cannot advance past 2-4. :( I've sounded defeated about certain goals in GB2 before, but this time it's the most discouraging.

The most trouble and blood pressure elevating I have is I have yet to find a way to manipulate the drone's suicide bullets since Marion's sub-shots are so unpredictable, leading to many wtf deaths. Even by not shooting in certain situations it's tough. I watched the Dragon Blaze superplay(thanks Dave_K), and the player was point-blanking drones all the time, and maneuvering out of the way of the slow return bullets. Too bad you can't do that in GB2 since the return bullets from drones are so fast and unpredictable.

I have a general idea on what to do with each boss. I have dodge each form of the second round random bosses without bombs in separate runs, but it's near impossible for me to do it in a single run.

So my realistic goal now is 2-4, and once I accomplished that, I am more than happy and probably take a real long break.

Had Japan, England, Italy. Time for that long break.

Thanks Cigs.

I was getting real frustrated this past couple of weeks. Every day involved stupid coin chaining deaths, and deaths in almost each level. It got to the point where it wasn't fun, and the first round felt like a chore just to get to the second round. For the first time I actually threw the DC pad the other day. No way was I aiming at the DC, but it bounced off the carpet and hit the DC, and the disc spun loose. Not gonna do that again.

^ shamefully, i did this while playing one of the later, more irritating notty sequences in Cool Cool Toon for the dozenth time. the disc popped off the clip and ended up getting irreparably scuffed (and unplayable) in the process.

end off topic
I have no sig whatsoever.

Cigs, I hope you might extend the high score list to include my hard work:

297,500 - prof ganson - Marion - 1-4

If not, that's cool with me. If I put another week into it, I'm sure I could improve it some. I just think a break from Gunbird 2 would be healthy for my state of mind about now. :)

I'm afraid I'm going to keep it at 15 slots- otherwise where's the incentive? But you are only about 50k out of the ranking.

Get your coin chain up and hit some gemheads you're missing and you can do it easily.

Thanks for your quick response, cigs. My primary goal was to get to level 4-- mission accomplished. :) My secondary goal was to get on your high-score board. I may let go of the latter goal, at least for now, because even if I managed to find a spot at 14 or 15, I would surely get bumped in a month or two. :(

I have so many thoughts and questions concerning this game after playing it exclusively the past week. I don't have time just now to express them... got to get back to work.

Damn, that was a lot of work. I suppose my next goal should be to get to 1-5, but I think I definitely need a break from this game right now.

Meh, no biggie. To be honest, I didn't even realize it until today. It's not like moving up one slot in the middle of the pack is all that earth-shattering, anyway.

Never made it to 1-7 before. Midboss instantly killed me.

Any tips on the beginning of the level? It's pretty brutal on high rank (those little spinny things shoot 3 barrages (5-2-1) instead of just the simple 5-shot. All while those turrets are popping up.

With Marion I start by going left while destroying the first three spinning things, then once I reach the left edge, I release a level two charge shot at the first couple of turrets that pops up, while very slowly tapping to the right. Then quickly take out one of those guys that shoot the spams, and weave through the rest. Man it's been a while since I played it, I should watch one of my replays to refresh my memory. It should also work with Tavia, since her charge shot moves slower, so it can take out more stuff as you move to the right.

And the mid-boss is a bitch, the part where it launches the two helper things.

Ok ... how do you beat the last form of the lats guy? When it shoots out the frogs, it's over.

If I just had 1 more bomb :(

You need to take out the left frog with your close attack, stay to the left of the laser, then get over to the right and smack the other frog.

I have a video I can send you if your email can take a 5.4 mb file.

Great progress by the way.
