Seems to have the most positive feedback of like, all games for anything out there of late. I literally can't remember anybody post anything negative about it. Is it really that good?

I played the Black Betty demo in stores a couple of times. It's something that sounds really amazing when you describe it to a friend, how everything happens in time to the music, not sure if that one gimmick is enough to carry an entire game though - so I'd like to know what people who bought it think too.
The biggest unanswered question is where is the money? [1CCS]

I heard it was a lot easier than Origins. That's one of the negatives I heard.

Currently playing it, and enjoying it for the most part: as I've said elsewhere, the visuals are phenomenal, easily one of the prettiest games ever to see daylight, IMO anyways. Play-wise it's pretty similar to Origins, though there are a handful of tweaks: most importantly "King Lums" are gone, and every Lum "formation" starts with a single purple one in it, which you need to collect first to increase the value of the others in turn. This means that every group of Lums you come across has the potential to be worth double if you're precise about picking them up, instead of select sections you have to memorize and motor through to get a high score on a level.

Time Attacks have been replaced with "Invaded" stages, which are short, self-contained levels you have to complete quickly to gain any reward from: I found some of these utterly infuriating, so there's at least some challenge for you in here (off the cuff I don't remember Origins being all that much easier or harder than Legends, but maybe my memory's fuzzy...of course, there are a bunch of cleaned-up Origins levels here if you want to see for yourself). I'm also more into the daily and weekly Challenges than I thought I'd be, if only to take a few minutes to see where I stack up (and earn an extra trinket or two).

I've finished the "main" game and am now trying to find/do everything...I managed it on Origins, so I'll see if I can do it again.

I'm still on the fence if I should buy Legends or not but now leaning towards no. Origins was very easy already, aimed at todays casual gamer.

What I always loved about the original Rayman (finished it 100% on my Jaguar back then) was the contrast between the cute graphic style and story on one hand but the unforgiving difficulty on the other side.
So I was quite dissapointed when I played Origins last year not fulfilling my hopes of being like the first game.

i have to disagree. imo the game is a lot easier if you play with a friend, because then one player can revive the other everytime one get's hit. but i could see how it get's more chaotic with 3 or 4 players.
Anyway i really loved Origins and will buy Legends soon too :D

Of course, difficulty with two players or more depends on who are the other players.

Maybe I'm just a wuss, but I personally found the first Rayman more than a touch too unforgiving, not even so much for the feats it required of the player (though there certainly were more than a few harrowing ones of those), but for how harshly it penalized you for messing up (guess who's going through the rest of the game with no continues!). The two contemporary Rayman games do have some nasty challenges to offer (though a more informed authority than I would have to comment on how they compare to the original's overall), but make it easier to quickly retry them until you get it right; I guess I can see how that'd make them less "hardcore" in nature (and far be it from me to doubt the gaming prowess of someone who can complete the first Rayman), but personally, at least, I'm okay with it.

Does Rayman Legends have shmup stages like Origins? I like how Origins has shmup stages.

There are no "new" shmup stages, but several of the Origins ones are still in there. Also, some areas give you the "punch glove" powerup, which allows you to attack enemies from far off, giving it a bit of run-n-gun flavor.

Did anyone here on the board beat the "Land of the livid dead" (bonuslevel, unlocks after collecting all of the red teeth) in Origins?

This level messes me up on a regular basis.

I didn't think Origins was too easy. But then again, I might be remembering those treasure chases and whatnot.

Also, to the poster above, I beat Land Of The Livid Dead. Twice.

It is hard, yeah.

I don't remember any level from Origins in particular but finishing it 100% took less than a week afair.
Nothing in comparison to Donkey Kong Country Returns for example. Now that's a nice challenge :)

I hope everyone knows that rayman legends includes all origins levels too. It has a "back to origins world". There are just a few levels missing (intro levels to each world?) but yeah. There's sooooo much to do in this game, I completely understand all positive feedback. It's totally worth getting, every level has a new gimmick or something else cool. It might be easy, but that's pretty much the whole idea. It's relaxing and platforming is fun. :wink:

Bullet Magnet, would you say this game is a "must buy" for someone who enjoyed Origins? I'm thinking about getting it, but I dislike some of it's alterations(easier difficulty, murfy, the rock stages not being as good as the treasure hunts). I heard the level design is a bit better.

What's your take?

Ok, I did. Supposed to arrive tomorrow. I do hope it's on the easier side because my tolerance for platforming frustration is really low. In my favorite genres (srpgs and shmups) I like a serious challenge, but in other genres I prefer something a bit more relaxed.

The Vita version has less levels, so if you have another option, that might be preferable. Personally I got it on Wii U.

Damn, thanks for the info. I could get it on the PS3 I suppose, that's my only other option.

I heard that they are going to be added in a free patch and that the game has it's own exclusive content, though. I wish Ubi would give 3DS another chance. Rayman Origins seemed to be half hearted for that system (though from what I played of the demo, it still seemed to play well, though still not 60 FPS like on other systems. Might get if I find it for dirt cheap at a yard sale or something, but I'm glad I have it on 360).

The game was initially designed for Wii U and it made some use of the touch screen. Those levels had to be modified to accomodate the PS3 and 360. I hear they did this well enough but the original would seem to be the way to go.

I liked Origins and like this too, so personally I'd say it's a good bet; some things have been changed around, but the basic "feel" of the game is quite similar to its predecessor. If you're not sure there is a demo out there, so if you can access that give it a shot and see how it comes across to you.
The Vita version has less levels, so if you have another option, that might be preferable.
I think BrianC is correct, that the "Invaded" levels weren't ready for the Vita version in time for launch for some reason, but will be added back in at some point; I also believe he's right that there are a couple of Vita-exclusive stages or something like that in there. I personally have the game on the 360, though, and haven't tried it elsewhere, so I can't comment on version differences.

The touch screen stuff seemed to be a bit gimmicky and I didn't like that some parts required you to rotate the Wii U pad when I tried the in store demo.

I really enjoy the murphy levels. They're a nice change of pace.

Thanks BulletMagnet. I played the demo, but wasn't that hot on the Murfy stage or the new music level. The music level was cool, but it wasn't any replacement for the treasure hunts. I can get over it though.
How much Murfy is in the game anyway? Like in terms of percentage?

Also, so you folks know, the VITA and WIIU versions of the Murfy levels have Rayman as an AI. OK, so you're kind of fiddling around with Murfy with the touch screen while Rayman is doing his own thing.

The PS3 and Xbox versions, you control Rayman AND Murfy.

To me, this is MUCH better, and a lot of other people think so too. There's a few reviewers that like the "original vision" better, that you get with the touch screen versions, but a lot of gamers say it's like an IOS game for those stages, and there's a lot of those stages.

Something to think over.

Also, I was going to buy this, but the damn thing is 60 bucks. Usually I wouldn't care, but I'm broke, and just bought 5 games and two CRTs. I'll have to wait until that price drops a bit, or I fall into some money.
