That was AWESOME. Thanks for hosting, Alamone! I was especially excited to see Zero Gunner 1. Though I wish more people had tried out Mega Typhoon :) :)

Yeah, thanks for hosting again, alamone! I don't think I touched a shmup since the last meet, so it's good to rekindle that fire once in a while. Wow, I am more out of practice than I've ever been. That's what I get for actually being a producer in this society these days. :>

Softdrink 117, awesome to see your aggressive play in Ketsui. Never saw anything like it live. Looking forward to seeing you around in future meets.

alamone, thanks so much for hosting. This was a lot of fun. So many games, so many setups... Nowhere near enough time to sink too deep into anything. Food was good, although there was indeed a *bit* too much.

It was great getting to know some of the Norcal guys, and I got to try out a lot of games I hadn't played before. Border Down, in particular, seems really cool.

Thanks man! I wish I'd been able to pull off a clear, but it was still a pretty decent run. Failing that first attack from the final boss was not one of my better moments though, lol.

Your runs in ESP Ra.De were great (CHIPMUNK MASSACRE), and that Akai Katana near-1CC was fun to see. I'm usually down in SoCal, but I'll definitely try to make it up here the next time one of these comes around.

Although I was only able to stop by for a bit, I had a great time. Thanks Alamone for hosting once again, you have an incredible setup and variety of games.

I was really surprised how good Zero Gunner was, but it was soooo cold sitting there with the AC beaming right into your legs, like some kind of shmup stress test LOL!

Great to meet softdrink 117 and see him get to stage 5 on Ibara. And of course good to see everyone else again. Hopefully I'll have some news on my new place by the end of the year.

Hey everyone, thanks for coming.

Yeah the food was a bit much as there were a few no-shows or early leavers and
people didn't eat as much as they had planned, but it looks like at least the ribs were a hit.
I'm gonna be eating BBQ for the rest of the week haha.
Next time I'm thinking about doing something low key like homemade katsu curry.

Looking forward to Dave's new digs once everything is setup!
As for me, now that everything is setup in the main area I'm hoping to hold meets a bit more regularly.
But I got a bit of work to catch up on so I don't have any announcements regarding that just yet.

Till next time!

Fuck, I completely forgot about this D: Though then again I was at the GameCenter Tetris meet the day before so I would've been wiped out on arrival.

There's always next time (and remembering to stuff these sort of events into Google Calendar) I guess.

Alamone, thanks for having me over for an awesome meet. Its so great to have someone willing to change out boards and adjust the volume on games and all that so I can get the most out of playing those rare cave games! The new Donpachi was a real gem on that Namco cab. And Esprade!

Looking forward to the next one,
Zach

I just met someone at a wedding today who just got into shmups and is aware of games like Progear and Deathsmiles. I might need two guest slots now. :)

Leaving for a 2-week vacation to the Philippines (still better arcades than the U.S.'s) on Christmas Day and I've already got plans on the 21st. Any other day is OK with me.

Think I'm going to have to push this back to January or later, main area is still a mess. Want to have my RGB modded Famicoms ready too.
I do have one new acquisition that should be interesting, if I can wire up some analog controls - Solar Assault, aka 3D Gradius. This is a 24KHz board.

Also got many new PCBs: Fantasy Zone, Feveron, R-Type, Black Heart.
Depending on time, also R-Type 2 and Fantasy Zone IIDX.

As long as it's January double-digits and not the 25th or 26th (I'll be away at a convention), I'm good. Would love to try Solar Assault.

I'd love to come but I'll be gone at Frequency 3.0 around the 18th/19th, so anytime other than that and I'm down.

You'd have to wire a custom loom, but the Planet Harriers panel you got might work. Depending upon how this plays, I may have to look out for a Solar Assult and install in one of my PH cabs.

Is this the modified system 16 PCB release or the bootleg?

Ah yes, the Las Vegas Gameworks location had a Konami Solar Assault up & running back in August of 1998...it took two swipes of the ol' GW debit card to coin-up a credit. It looked awesome on the huge CRT-based rear-projection screen setup. Didn't realize that it's medium-res game to begin with. Of course with a 15kHz-24khz dual-sync Nanao monitor on the ol' Egret II cab, it'll work just fine with it.

Dave - this will be a modified original Sys16B board, but I haven't gotten around to modding the board yet so it may not be ready on time.
I've posted a new thread for the next meet, please post in there http://shmups.system11.org/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=48613.
