G-Balance vs Vewlix

Post by Gingerzilla »

Hello All.
does anybody out there own a G-Balance or a Vewlix or both (even better).

I can find some info on the Vewlix F & C which is a wicked system (I play heaps with here in japan)
I unfortunately can't find any info on the G-Balance.
It is about a $1000 difference between them and the G-Balance being the cheaper.

I want a system that will be easy to hook up the following with least amount of hassle
PCB
xbox.
PS3
Saturn
DC

Cheers

And here's the manufacturer's website: http://www.gfi-ltd.com/product/

Manual: http://www.gfi-ltd.com/pdf/g-balance.pdf

So yeah both have a 720P LCD that you can connect devices to with VGA or DVI. Great for all the newer systems.

For the Saturn and old PCB's you'd really want a 15khz 4:3 CRT. Or I would... But connecting them to the LCD isn't really any hassle you just need to buy a converter/upscaler, good ones can be expensive though. And a Jamma wiring harness that lets you connect everything.

For (non-PCB) controls you're gonna need an encoder. The consoles you've listed are supported by the MC Cthulhu: http://www.focusattack.com/toodles-cthu ... nsole-pcb/

Is a Vewlix worth $1000 more? Well it has a good Samsung monitor and their top-end 32" 720P LCD's seem to sell for about $800, so that's something (no idea what kind of monitor the G-Balance has). And it's an already legendary Taito cab instead of a copy of it. But that is a lot of money. Dunno.

They want about $2650 for it. That is a lot but if a good monitor is a good chunk of the cost I understand. The G-Balance is going at $950.
I hear the Vewlix-C monitor has no lag, i wonder how bad the lag could be on the GB. I have been playing my Xbox shooters on a Sharp Aquos at 720 and I don't notice anything (perhaps I'm already to old and slow :-)
