Hey Guys,
Just looking to canvass opinions on the comparative complexity of Border Down vs Darius Burst. I've read (many times) Randorama's superb ST on Border Down, but have yet to see a similar analysis of Darius Burst. Certainly, the latter seems to be a 'simpler' game to play, but without an in depth understanding of the scoring regime, I'm probably fiddling with my PSP and iPad in blind ignorance and missing half of the point.
So, to help me out, is anyone willing to share:
a) A view on which title has the greater longevity
b) Details on the hidden depths of the various DB flavours
Thanks in advance for your thoughts,
HJ.

Pretty sure you can find out when you get the DBEX cab you just bought. So jealous! Look me up in 5 years if you want to move it on.
DB is simpler than Border Down. Its only complexities are in using the burst cannon for scoring against swarms of enemies for higher multipliers, exploiting bosses for score (taking out multiple appendages), and using it as both a defensive and offensive weapon.
Game is incredible, enjoy it!

Thanks for your thoughts Skykid, and as you rightly detected, part of the reason for raising the question was to establish whether DB AC DX had enough longevity to justify the purchase. I'm awaiting a shipping quote from Jinxz at the moment, so much will depend upon the associated costs. It does look great though, and having missed out on playing the Casino's cab, I really fancy a bit of Darius goodnessSkykid wrote:Pretty sure you can find out when you get the DBEX cab you just bought. If all fails, system11 has kindly agreed to sell me his G-Darius PCB, so at least the Egret will get some loving over the winter months...
Cheers,

Oh my, thank you.Halloween Jack wrote:Hey Guys,

From the little I have played of Darius Burst, it has the same complexity of its predecessor (i.e. G-Darius), although it is possible to access higher multipliers than the x4 one can access in G-Darius. Said this, I think that Border Down is more complex, as a game system, since it requires a certain planning of the routes and cancels, for the reasons I explained in the ST.
