Just like the original Robocop could be seen as a story of a machine remembering he's a man, Robocop reboot could be that in reverse.
Murphy starts out all human and slowly coming to terms with being robocop. He awkwardly tries to reconnect with his wife and son. Michael Keaton becomes unsatisfied with how efficiently robocop functions, so Gary Oldman gives that speech from the trailer about how the human elements of compassion and mercy will always decrease robocop's efficiency. Keaton recommends he find a way to decrease the human element. Oldman comes up with the computer simulation mentioned in the trailer to make Murphy think he's in control, but actually the computer is feeding him false data from the helmet.
Murphy catches on to this change and rebels against OCP. "Somehow he's overriding the protocols!" OCP sends out its major military hardware to bring robocop down, including that ED209 and that hover drone plane. OCP sics a small army of fully-automated robocops on Murphy in an abandoned steel mill. Murphy destroys them all brutally with his guns and physical strength, (that robot neck-snapping scene in the trailer). In the aftermath of the battle, the visor slides back as Murphy hears Keaton's voice over his comm saying something along the lines of, "You think you've won? We're mass-producing hundreds more of the fully-automated robocops. Detroit belongs to OCP and so do you!" Murphy holds up his human fist and says, "I'm not your product! I am a human being! I will fight OCP for as long as it takes!" Keaton hisses back, "Well it may take you a very long time!"
Then Murphy righteously marches out of the steel mill with the robo-helmet down. Behind him we don't see the wreckage of the automated robots we saw him fight, but the mangled corpses of Clarence Boddicker and his gang. Back at OCP Keaton and Oldman are standing at a bank of monitors watching the preceding climactic battle, one screen showing Murphy vs. the OCP robots, the other side the exact same fight, but against Boddicker's gang. Keaton congratulates Oldman on finally bringing Murphy completely under control and getting rid of those "compassion" and "mercy" bugs.
Final scene, robocop on his bike, his wife runs up to him, "Alex, you need to talk to your son." The visor never comes up, Robocop responds in a voice that has lost all trace of humanity, "Excuse me, maam, somewhere a crime is happening."
THE END.
That's not what they'll actually do, but it would be cool if they did.

The only script that could redeem that Robocop redux traier
Two working class dudes, one black one white, just baked a tray of ten cookies together.
An oligarch walks in and grabs nine cookies for himself.
Then he says to the white dude "Watch out for that black dude, he wants a piece of your cookie!"

Hey, I'm working with the materials the trailer offered, here, and that's the least lame story I can come up with. Remember when that "leaked" script for Prometheus hit the net and it turned out the actual script was ten times dumber?Ed Oscuro wrote:I already saw Inception.
The really sad thing is, they had a script in their hands for a Robocop reboot written by frigging Darren Aronofsky and they shitcanned it. God knows what inspired that decision, but I suspect it involved a power drill.
