1) We'll just have to wait and see if Gaiden comes as well. I'd prefer Gaiden to the other four.

No working PSX emu yet. But a 1up.com editor commented that Megaman Legends PSP literally uses such a blatant PS1 emulator that the game is practically begging hackers to go and make one. lolIcarus wrote:Ack. -_-;;Kiken wrote:Various online sources throw Gradius Gaiden in the mix but the preorder solicitation from Konami only lists Gradius I to IV.[/i]

2) There's always PSX emulation on the PSP... if it works properly, that is.
edit: Just PSPOne which is nothing more than a 5fps demo which was released back in July, no updates so far.

Here is a Famitsu scan (and it does mention Gaiden).

My first PSP import. I don't care if I have to update the firmware.

Yeah, it does mention gaiden. Though I can only understand like a 5th of what the article says.

Ditto again! Although I do really like I and II; I don't know if it would be worth shelling out the dough for this collection-perhaps, since I don't own any ports of I and II, and am getting a PSP for Christmas this year.UnscathedFlyingObject wrote:ditto.Icarus wrote:Ack. -_-;;Kiken wrote:Various online sources throw Gradius Gaiden in the mix but the preorder solicitation from Konami only lists Gradius I to IV.[/i]

Whatever happens with this collection, I just hope it opens the door for more PSP shmup ports; be they collections of older shmups, or brand new one's-especially considering the power of the PSP is, and the fact that it's region-free.
PSP Xyanide was supposed to come out on the 15th of this month; but is now listed as coming out in 2006, on Gamefaqs. (The XBOX version is still TBA

Hmmm, it looks like there will be some sort of gallery/sound test thing-a-ma-whozit in there (if that one screen is accurate, the latter will even have tracks from Gradius ports not on the compilation); wonder if they'll all be available at the start, or if they need to be unlocked. Another thing I noted was that I seem to be seeing a mix of screens of both "arcade" and "full screen" views, like in the Deluxe Pack...I wonder if that option will be carried over to this?

edit: Again, I have not played Gaiden before so what is "burst in play"?
GRADIUS GAIDEN confirmed!
This adds a even more value to the pack for me since I haven't played it yet and have heard nothing but praise. Better yet, this way I don't have to buy the import. (thanks SCEJ who I again cynically theorize probably forced Konami to include Gaiden instead of just shoveling in 1-4 due to their "more content in compilations, please" policy, heh heh

If you want to play Gradius Gaiden two players, you may still want to get the PSX version. As I said in the previous post in this topic, the official Konami page for the Gradius PSP pack says the game is only one player. As I said before, one part of the babelfish translation of the Konami Gradius PSP pack page translates as "Play number of people: 1 person". Burst in play is when player two can join in mid game like in Bubble Bobble, Contra, Ninja Turtles, etc.Dylan1CC wrote:edit: Again, I have not played Gaiden before so what is "burst in play"?

I think something groundbreaking is happening with this collection for the PSP-in putting together this collection, Taito is effectively shattering into a million pieces the "two-only rule" that's been the defacto rule for shmup collections for the past umpteen years.
I hope that this has a far reaching impact on any future shmup collections we see!

The PSP screen can be damaged just by looking at it.
I've had people come back with the screen having scratches literally from the stitching of the PSP logo in the official case that comes with the system.
There were a bunch in this region also that, out of the box, had hairs under the screen. So apparently there's a "rub onto one's groin" station on the PSP assembly line somewhere.
