Help by plugging PS3/XBOX 360 controller into your computer

Post by undamned »

I need to gather some Vendor and Product IDs from various controllers in order to improve my UD-CPS2 controller support. Sadly I don' t own every controller on the market. All that is required to pull the information I need from a PS3 or XBOX 360 controller is to hook it up to a computer running USBView. USBView is a USB connection viewer and can be downloaded for free for Windows or Linux here:

http://www.ftdichip.com/Support/Utilities.htm

All you do is plug in your controller (cancel out of any driver loading windows that may pop up), run the USBView program, and click on the device you wish to read from on the left tree:

Then, copy the first block of text (starts with the words "Device Descriptor"):

And paste it in this thread, noting what controller you plugged in:

[This is my Microsoft combination wireless mouse/keyboard]

Code: Select all

Device Descriptor:
bcdUSB: 0x0200
bDeviceClass: 0x00
bDeviceSubClass: 0x00
bDeviceProtocol: 0x00
bMaxPacketSize0: 0x08 (8)
idVendor: 0x045E (Microsoft Corporation)
idProduct: 0x071D
bcdDevice: 0x0250
iManufacturer: 0x01
0x0409: "Microsoft"
iProduct: 0x02
0x0409: "Microsoft® 2.4GHz Transceiver V1.0"
iSerialNumber: 0x00
bNumConfigurations: 0x01
That's it!

Here is a list of the controllers I'd like information from:

PS3 Madcatz Brawl Pad
[GOT IT!] PS3 PDP Verses Fight Pad [Bought one :D]
[GOT IT!] PS3 Madcatz Brawl Stick [Thanks, pollysee!]

360 Madcatz MVC2
360 HORI Tekken Tag Tournament 2
[GOT IT!] 360 HORI PAD EX2 Turbo [Thanks, HydrogLox!]

Thanks in advance for the help!

I would do it, but the tool doesn't even start on my machine (Win7 x64 Pro).

I have not tested these, but they are free and supposedly work on Win7:

USBDeview: http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/usb_devices_view.html (scroll down toward the bottom for x64 version)
USB Device Tree Viewer: http://www.uwe-sieber.de/usbtreeview_e.html (not sure if supports x64)
Advanced USB Port Monitor: http://www.aggsoft.com/usb-port-monitor/download.htm (looks like you need to add the provided patch for x64)

No problems with Microsoft USBView - USB Connection Viewer on Windows 7 Professional Service Pack 1, 64-bit Operating System on a Lenovo W510. Now granted, it is only meant for Windows 98, ME, 2000 and XP.

0x0409: "Controller"
iSerialNumber: 0x03
0x0409: "055339B"
bNumConfigurations: 0x01
and the XBox 360 Wireless Receiver for Windows:-

none of the listed ones, but a very important controller nevertheless - an original japanese Sega "Saturn Style" USB pad - must not be forgotten under any circumstances!

Code: Select all

bcdUSB: 0x0110
bDeviceClass: 0x00
bDeviceSubClass: 0x00
bDeviceProtocol: 0x00
bMaxPacketSize0: 0x08 (8)
idVendor: 0x04B4 (Cypress Semiconductor)
idProduct: 0x010A
bcdDevice: 0x0100
iManufacturer: 0x01
0x0409: "CYPRESS"
iProduct: 0x02
0x0409: "USB Gamepad"
iSerialNumber: 0x00
