Yup. Like the ideas of democracy, math, philosophy, geometry, morality, politics that we all believe in and were written by other civilizations 1.5 millennia ago. Aristotle and Plato, thou hath been pwned.
Again I never said that. I'm comparing the difference between someone
who will make up his own mind or someone who chooses the easy way by folowing a book or words that are put on to him as truth.
Ofcourse the second group doens't necesarily need to think about things as they seem to get all the answers out of a book.
It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that "thou shalt not lie, kill, covet, steal, bear false witness and to honor thy father and mother" will save me a lot of trouble in life.
Why don't you come with real arguments instead of twisting my words and falling back in defense because of it ?

If you wanna be a believer, fine with me but keep it to yourself and don't go posting on forums that do not serve a religious purpose telling people that 'He' will save them. That is just a load of bollocks and far more stupid than anything I've said.
And you don't come insulting other people's beliefs. It's just as offensive for them as for people who choose to be agnostic when they get preached.

Twisting your words? It wasn't me the one who said that Hitler and the bible were pretty much the same. Like that was a really intelligent argument.

That doesn't work very well. Try equipping a Fire-resistant magic armor, and assigning Materia with Shell/MBarrier, Firaga and Zero Bahamut to some open slots.

And cast Barrier and MBarrier. Works for me. ^_-

All of the above can't be used as a comparison. It's very clear to me that there must be some taboo about mentioning historical facts.
There's a big taboo on Hitler, that's for sure.
Maybe I should have used yugoslavia as an example. Same things happened there but it doesn't bother people as much as Hitler.
It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that "thou shalt not lie, kill, covet, steal, bear false witness and to honor thy father and mother" will save me a lot of trouble in life.
So if you've never read the bible those things wouldn't have come up in your mind ?
And you don't come insulting other people's beliefs. It's just as offensive for them as for people who choose to be agnostic when they get preached.
Please reread the thread from the start and then you tell me who started this.
Twisting your words? It wasn't me the one who said that Hitler and the bible were pretty much the same. Like that was a really intelligent argument.
I never said that so it shows your twisting words again.

I said to say you believe in god is like saying you believe in Hitler if you were a german living in germany during those years that Hitler was on top.

I wonder if 50 years from now there will be a taboo on Bush ?

JUST. SHUT. UP. ALREADY.

It's not going to work. Ok? It's for your own good. Stop making a fool of yourself. JUST. SHUT. UP.

Thanks.

"Shmups Gone Stupid", once again...

Hitler and Jesus...? One may as well douse themselves in gasoline and play with fireworks.

Anyone remember back... a long time ago... when this place was limited to 20 or so people who actually played video games like Gradius?
Anyway...

To all those who turned this thread into a religous flame war,
A person like Spec, or myself might not be able to "prove" that there exsist a God, but then again, someone who is an Atheist, really cannot prove that a God doesn't exsist on the contrary.

Whatever, someone may be an idiot for believing, then again, someone may be an idiot for not.

BTW: This thread was titled, "Can People Change". Not," Does a God Exsist, and if he does, prove it".
Lets try to "change" and return to the original topic!

Damn, i'm playing Gradius V and it's always the same ol' stuff, will it ever change? :x

But yeah, Gradius series is a good metaphor of life, a series that hasn't changed a lot over time, so it seems "always the same", and still it's something different from the beginnings.

I can't believe i've made a metaphor of life with Gradius, but given the insanity of the last posts, i think it's more than welcome

I'd compare life to R-Type, myself. Slow, plodding, but with practice you can ever so slowly inch foward and make progress to get to the interesting parts.

Also, the ship is phallic. I'm sure that fits in there somewhere.

I like the way you worded that one...also, I'm thinking of a perverted joke here, but I'll refrain. (don't know how far your sense of humor goes)

Oh, it's allright Twitch. Disagreements about believing or not believing in a god, just like Rando and Seth have presented, are perfectly ok. It's blanket bigoted statments that say that as a believer, I'm comparable to a supporter of the worst monster humanity has known what tend to get my feathers (or fur if you will, lol) in a ruffle.

I am 100% an atheist, and I may disagree with religious belief, but I certainly have respect for people's rights to have faith.

The majority of religions promote positive attitudes to others - whether they share your beliefs or not.

There are numerous acts of atrocity carried out in the name of religion, but anyone who can seriously draw parallels between Christianity and Nazism and rationalise that in their own mind is in serious need of education.
Be attitude for gains:
1) Be praying...
2) Be praying...
3) Be praying...

And a shameless plug for the stuff I'm selling on eBay, if you're into that sort of thing.

Sure you can. It just depends on how widely you focus. Religion has been responsible for more deaths, and more downright evil than 20 Hitlers could have managed. Let's see shall we? The Crusades. Endless fighting in the Middle East. The Spanish Inquisition. There are other interesting situations like the how Christians were treated in Japan, and how Japan at one point had a link between divinity and the state (emperor).

Hitler and Naziism was a tiny storm in a teacup in the wider scheme of the history of mankinds wrongdoings.

Oh well, I have to reply.

First I do respect other people's choice to believe as long as they don't start preaching on places that are not meant for that. That I think that believers are fooled is my right to think and nobody should be offended by that.

That people don't understand the point I'm trying to make which is nothing more than the comparison that both believers and those germans (read germans not necesarily nazis) back then are/were both fooled by an ideology is not my fault.
I have never said that believers perse commit genocide or whatever atrocities you can think of.
I therefore belief that education would be better spend on trying to uderstand what is really said.

Why don't you just say that you drew a link between Nazism and Christianity just to get attention? Because most everyone saw exactly right through you.

Sure you can think whatever you want including ignorant garbage like that but keep it off the forum.

Simply because I didn't. I allready said it was meant to be shocking.
Why do you accuse me of trying to get attention but not the preacher who started this ?

It's about as shocking as a dead baby joke. If your goal was to shock, you failed. If your goal was to annoy, you succeeded.
Why do you accuse me of trying to get attention but not the preacher who started this ?
Because it had already been done.
