SCART cable ground loop/poor shielding?
Bought my first SCART cable from retrogamingcables.co.uk a while back, and just got the TV to hook it up to. This is for my Genesis 2, and it's got the breakout RCA audio. Problem is, just plugging those audio jacks into my TV causes a horribly loud droning buzz sound. Even with the genesis power adapter unplugged it makes the noise. Even with the CABLE unplugged from the Genesis it makes the noise, though much more quietly. This sounds like a ground loop problem, but I don't know much about those. Is there a way to fix it, or am I going to have to pay and wait for international shipping back to them for a replacement?

are you certain that's the right way ? I would assume the breakouts are outputs and so are your TV's RCA ports, maybe ?just plugging those audio jacks into my TV causes

Re: SCART cable ground loop/poor shielding?
The audio breakout RCA plugs are outputs, correct. I'm just plugging them into a CRT's front inputs and it makes the noise. Same if I plug it into one of those gaming chairs with the speakers in them (again the chair's audio input).
The SCART standard does have pins for audio input though right? So I guess my SCART cable could be wired completely wrong and actually connecting input to input? I don't see how any self-respecting company could mess up that royally bad.

how's the audio when you DON'T plug in the scart connector at all, but the RCA audio connects on themselves ?

Makes no difference whether the SCART connector is plugged in or not. When the other end of the plug is disconnected from the Genesis though, the sound does get slightly louder if I touch the end of it (metal plug going into the genesis) if that helps identify it as a grounding issue.

Open the head and look for broken solderpoints.
One test you could do is touch one end of a wire to the SCART shell and another to the round shell going into the console AV port.
