Glow Squid logo "Competition"

We were talking about logo's on shmups irc yesterday and trap15 posted that image from garegga (that's the "container" for the final boss, glow squid)


I proposed we try making high rez/vector versions of it for use as a logo (could look nice on shirts) and a few of us made attempts. So I thought about making a thread since I know there are quite a few "artists" around here on the boards.

chempop also had a few versions, not sure which one he likes the best so i'll let him post it.


So if youre interested just make your own version and post it here. I'm using ~700x700 just so it doesn't look too big here on the forum, if you can stick to that it will help compare the different versions, feel free to use whatever colors/style you want

I wonder how many Garegga players would even recognize that logo from the game? Can a t-shirt logo be more niche? It actually looks like a mix between a generic tribal tattoo and a spider. Sorry for being negative but there must be a lot of better, more prolific garegga symbols in there. Nice detail about Glow Squid though.

You would have to try very hard


But once the logo is made, nothing is stopping us from adding a "glow squid" text or even "battle garegga" to make it more recognizable.

as far as looking like a tribal tattoo I blame the black on white colors, it wont give off that "vibe" with different colors or even with some textures applied.

Black Heart or his red spider-web like bullets or Madball and his destructible parts and some of this attacks are more eye-appealing and more defining of the game imo.

Anyway, I regret the negative post a bit, I just hoped for more seing the headline. Perhaps someone will make a really cool logo out of it.

So I had an idea.



Something like that. I made vectors of Black Heart and his drones, so it's fully scalable up to shirt or poster size with no problems at all. Right now I'm looking for advice on how to arrange things on the shirt. Some details, like the borders of Black Heart's stripes, aren't worth taking the time to put in for quick sketches like this (though TBH I kind of like the effect created by their absence).

Thoughts?

So I had an idea.

This one look quite fresh.

At the moment I got a lot of work so I can't work on a glow squid logo.

And from a design standpoint:
-don't use bevel presets ever
-this particular "old german" font feels way too round and has some ugly letters
-all caps feel a bit wierd too with this font
-the spacing is off too
-and the font feels a bit nazi

But perhaps it's only me.

I actually had the idea of putting this exact (Glow Squid) logo on a t-shirt almost two years back (think it was November of 2011) but decided against it since i still wanted the main logo and a 10k medal, so things would have gotten a bit too crowded.

Shmups are an entire genre that revolves around the hypothetical premise of Germany winning WWII.
I guess my point is, Glowsquid is probably a Nazi.

I actually used an avatar that was the two lightning bolts from the Raizing logo for a while, specifically because it looked like SS

Again, still rough. Right now, it's a bit too abstract, but the more detailed version I have doesn't look good at all. I'm trying to find a balance. Just haven't quite hit it yet.

And Vyxx, don't worry, I definitely plan to make some Ibara vector stuff too. I just don't quite feel ready to take on that particular game at the moment. Need to do it justice.
