Anyone else having issues with NCSX lately?

Post by brentsg »

I've been using NCSX for years, I guess since the mid '90s. The prices haven't always been the absolute best, but in general they were usually close enough. The communication was great and they always packed well and items arrived in a reasonable timeframe, etc.

Lately though, it seems that they've gotten a bit slower.. a bit more expensive.. and it seems that it often takes a couple tries to get an e-mail answered. Has anyone else had issues like this, or is it just a fluke? I had an expensive item that was damaged in shipping not long ago and they offered a refund, which was ok. I sourced another elsewhere, as it didn't look like anymore were incoming. Of course I paid more, then they were able to restock.. so that sucked. And my refund took well over a month, because they accidentally credited the wrong customer. That took several e-mails to straighten out but eventually it was..

I had a preorder that I expected to ship yesterday, but I see no credit card charge or shipping notice. I sent an inquiry, perhaps too late in the day. No reply to that so far.. I know in the past they'd reply on weekends, though maybe that's expecting too much.

Hopefully it's just my bad luck, but wondering if anyone else was having stumbles.

I haven't, but I'm probably not much of an indicator since I live not too terribly far from their warehouse and have never had to get in touch with them for much.

I've had some very mild mishaps that were straightened up promptly and professionally... but still I'm a tad tired of human error. Why can't the world be run by psychic robots already so I can get my import videogames without any hassles.

The reason why I go with NCSX over other import shops is because if/when an order gets screwed, I'm much rather it be with a company within the country I live in over somewhere on the other side of the planet.

I've felt uneasy with NCSX for the past couple years.
Their websites, especially the search option, isn't the most user friendly, but that's nothing new.

The last time I ordered from them was for a sealed copy of Sunsoft Memorial Collection Vol.6, they had multiple copies in stock as indicated by their parallel ebay listing. The item I received had a smashed jewel case. It was sealed, and there was no damage to the shipping box, so they actually picked a broken one and shipped that to me. If it was the case that all remaining stock was damaged I would have been fine with an explanatory note or email.

There was a few more old-stock items I was interested to purchase at that time, but instead I decided to look elsewhere. A few of the items I've never found for sale anywhere else. It's a shame as I have fond memories of purchasing from them in the late 90's.
