Never played the HD version, but Super Stardust was a joy to play even on the PSP; I believe these guys can deliver another great game. Nice start for the PS4.

SSDHD is one of my favorites, I'll give this a go for sure.

I'm getting a Defender vibe from this one.

It's a bit ambiguous, but this snippet makes it sound like this'll be a freebie for Plus members.

Yes, definitely better in motion. Stardust was great (other than the recycled bosses). I'm sure this will be awesome as well.

It looks like defender on LSD.

A souped up take on Defender. Could be interesting.

This reminds me a lot of Orbitron Revolution, by Firebase games---
---a game I was trying to champion here, a year or so ago.
Yes, I understand they're both Defender clones.

Fidelity-wise, RESOGUN is bound to impress, but I still prefer the aesthetic design of Orbitron.

Some impressions, and seemingly confirmation that it'll be a freebie for Plus members.

Looks nice, but I resent having to buy a PS4 to play it. There's nothing there that couldn't be done on PS3 hardware.

I was thinking the same thing.
Not sure why they couldn't release this earlier, instead they have waited for more console power to make it.
I just can't see why they needed the extra power from the PS4 to make this game work, when it could of been done years ago with the already large player base.

Looks like an interesting take on Defender. Hopefully the particle effects don't fuck around with visibility.

It looks interesting. However, if the controls are analog, as shown on the control description screen, and there's no option for digital input, then this game is not for me.

This video is a recording of a RESOGUN demo gameplay at TGS 2013. I think RESOGUN is the only proper shmup to be showcased at TGS 2013. If someone found another shmup at this event, I may be wrong.
I express my apologies for posting a bunch of mobile shmup threads in this forum in recent months, because some members perceive them as "spam." I have to redeem myself.

Really glad that there will be a decent and "free" game to play at launch. I just wish that the art-style was more appealing to me. Is it just me or is there something of a euroshmup appearance to what they've shown so far?

I've been wanting a solid Defender style game for a while, and Resogun does look pretty good. Could be a highlight of two really tame console launches. I'm sure they could do this on PS3 but I mean... the PS3 is dying, and it doesn't make any sense to do that? You could have made Geometry Wars on the PS2/GC/Xbox, but that doesn't mean it wasn't an absolute highlight of the 360 launch.

Also I do think some of the effects look pretty advanced, like the walls exploding into rubble. The art style overall is a little too serious and dark, though.

Between this and Killzone, I'd say the launch on Friday is looking like a ton of fun. The Xbox One has a slight edge, though, with Crimson Dragon and Forza. Too bad the systems are so crazy expensive. No way I can justify getting both systems at launch.

...until you realize that half of Forza's content is locked away via DLC, that it has only 200 cars, no Nurberg Ring, no dynamic weather, no day and night cycles and so on, which might put a slight dent into the fun.

I have quite enjoyed Super StarDdust HD and Delta in the past, so I have a good feeling about Resogun. I wish Housemarque would port The Reap to a modern system, but that's probably not gonna happen.

The Reap was a cracking wee shooter. It was surprising how powerful a system was required to get it playing smoothly. Idea for a PSN / XBLA port I would have thought.
