Recommend me a Playstation SCART
Re: Recommend me a Playstation SCART
Got the Snakebyte cable today, seems the same as the QED, maybe a tiny, tiny bit better, not £28 better. The build quality is fantastic, and I looked inside and no capacitors, just like the official cable as someone said earlier.

Re: Recommend me a Playstation SCART
Will these PS2/PS3 SCART's (Joytech, QED, etc) also work on PS1's?

I've never had issues swapping RGB SCART leads between PS1 and PS2 consoles.stuntman wrote:I took a chance and ordered 2 (arrived today).
Tested PS1 -> Scart (QED) to JP21 adapter -> XRGB3.
Works fine. What a bargain
Don't bomb. DON'T BOMB.
Damn! Should have bombed.

Mine just arrived, can't test it yet but will say the pins seem a bit mashed up on the console end so....not great but for less than 2 quid I won't complain.
Re: Recommend me a Playstation SCART
I think this a common problem with QED cables, it was previously mentioned here - http://shmups.system11.org/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=41002ThEmperorIsDead wrote:Mine just arrived, can't test it yet but will say the pins seem a bit mashed up on the console end so....not great but for less than 2 quid I won't complain.
Got one coming in aswell, will compare it with the IXOS when I get chance.

Well I don't seem to have continuity anywhere between scart & console end, and do not have any functionality.
Unlucky I guess, might break it open and have a look... shame to waste such a fat cable.

Re: Recommend me a Playstation SCART

Wii Gamestation brand RGB SCART/Snakebyte Playstation RGB SCART/QED SCART>SCART switch>SCART to RGBS Female RCA>RCA to BNC Cables>PVM

Thats my setup, the SCART switch has separate Stereo out which I use to connect Creative T20 Series 2 speakers.
Someone said it was fine going to a JP21 and then to a XRGB3, maybe like Fudoh said it has something to do with blanking and voltage, maybe connecting to a fully wired female SCART activates the RGB pins or something.

Will that Wolfsoft cable work with North American PS1's and 2's?BuckoA51 wrote:If you're going to spend that much, might as well go for the Wolfsoft cable, which has luma for sync too:-Just bought a Snakebyte cable from amazon.fr for £29.34 or 33.50 euros.

No problems with it here.Is the Ixos SCART any good?
I'm assuming it does but I'd like to double check before I purchase.
Re: Recommend me a Playstation SCART
Bumped into this thread in my hunt for a PS1 SCART lead... I ended up buying the QED Premium one from Amazon for £3.99, and seemingly lucked out on it - the cable works exceedingly well! (And the pins weren't too badly bent either.)

Re: Recommend me a Playstation SCART
As no one said it outright I got the QED produced cable and indeed its composite over scart.
Just try a ntsc game on pal machine and the image is black and white.
I already have a rgb scart cable but wanted to confirm.

Re: Recommend me a Playstation SCART
When the QED cables were on sale earlier this year, a couple of users here got them (me included) and we confirmed that they are proper RGB.
If you get a b/w image your TV is probably just not switching into RGB mode. That's a common Playstation problem as the blanking voltages is likely off. The original Sony RGB cable uses a rather sophisticated voltage converter IC to bring the console's native 12V down to the levels your TV needs. Most if not all other 3rd party RGB cables don't do this properly.
(EDIT: but there's of course the chance that there are different cables out there.....)

Re: Recommend me a Playstation SCART

Tv is Sony crt and I cycled through AV1 AV2 RGB.
EDIT - Product code I-ONEPS2/1.5
Re: Recommend me a Playstation SCART
Sony CRTs should work when manually switched into RGB mode. Maybe the wrong voltage is causing the Sony to use composite anyway though. Why not pull/cut pins 8 and 16 and try again ?
