Sony PVM interlacing artifacts/jumpiness?

Post by powruser »

Hi guys. Have a Sony PVM20L5 manufacture date 2004. Only have my PS2 hooked up to it via S-Video (no RGB yet) which is interlaced. The monitor looks awesome (minus some geometry adjustments), but two things concern me. On some screens it looks like the image is "jumpy", could this be from the interlaced signal? I'm thinking it will go away when I get RGB properly setup.

Also, when I pull up the OSD, the geometry on the left side of the OSD is way off, its bowed inward, but strangely is only on the left hand side. I tried doing some basic geometry adjustments but can't seem to resolve it. Makes me worried the monitor is defective?

that's unfortunately the nature of an interlaced signal on a CRT. It won't go away, but will get more obvious with a better signal like RGB.

Thanks for the reply Fudoh. Looking forward to rigging up a SCART to BNC cable for my Genesis and getting down with some RGB gaming! Any thoughts on the geometry issue with the OSD?
