Best capping solution for consoles up to first 128bit gen?

Post by Franz the Stampede »

Hello!

I have recently picked up some older games on the Saturn with the intention of recording some good runs/score/times, which is soemthing I have never done before. In particular, I'm looking to do some justice to Panzer Dragoon Zwei on the Saturn. I have seen a lot of good run videos of Panzer Dragoon Orta but all the YouTube videos of Zwei are non-performance play.

Now, I have a Japanese Saturn (white model) with a presumably RGB scart and a Japanese copy of the game, playing on a widescreen multisystem CRT TV (the game did have a widescreen option!) and pretty standard Windows PCs running XP or 7.

What are my options for video capture under, say, 100GBP/120EUR?

I'm not looking for quality-at-all-costs images, I just need to be able to show my strats and create a video walkthrough, basically. Note, however, that I don't think I could play through a PC screen (any lag would fcuk me up) and I have heard of people capturing videos using a DVD recorder and then extracting the AV file from DVD...

Apologies if this has been asked before, I did a quick search but I couldn't find something specific...

Many thanks

Franz
