hardware for zooming

Post by kamillebidan »

When a game gear is consolized, there's need to zoom in the image to make it fullscreen.
The guy here http://www.smspower.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=13381 used a sony DSC-1024G
http://www.broadcastbaron.com/infodsc1024g.htm
However, it seems a dated device which is difficult to find.
Is there any newer device you know that can do the same?

Just wanted to say that this is the most insane case mod I've ever seen. Sheer awesomeness!

The Sony DSC is a one of the few units that allow overscan/zoom controls on 15khz RGB signals. Once you go progressive (31khz) there are a number of devices which can zoom your image. The Extron VSC units can alter the image while doing a scan conversion, so you could go GG > linedoubler > VSC > TV.

Thank you for your prompt reply
The VSC seems to be not very popular in japan. I found just one reseller
http://online.plathome.co.jp/item/detai ... /60-476-01
and the price is around 1200 euros.
I am sorry, but do you know other devices I could connect between the XRGB-3 and the TV (now I use the VGA exit of the XRGB-3) to zoom in?

Yeah. I want one!

As BuckoA51 says, the Edge will do it, but not very nicely.
