Re: I DID IT

Post by Deca »

I just had my first run to Discharge and made it through to the final phase of the fight. I'm getting familiar with the last two stages finally, finding it a bit silly how many resources they throw at you in the final one in particular. You can pretty much blast away indiscriminately and still end up with enough large weapon items to drop for an extend.

Need to get better at Discharge's first form. I sort of feel like it's harder than the second in a lot of ways, but the second can tend to trap you real suddenly and call for some bomb use. More exposure will build skills, I've already come so far that I know I can definitely clear in the near future.

It's a little weird, this was my big goal I wanted to achieve when I first started playing shooters seriously. I remember fighting for my first Normal course clears and the Advanced clear seemed impossible. Now that I'm getting close to it I'm starting to worry that it won't be as satisfying as it should be. It just doesn't seem quite as monumental as it used to and I'm sort of feeling like I should be annoyed with myself for not having done it a long time ago.

I think I finally awakened a *tiny* bit of full shmup today.
I've been playing through Dangun Feveron on/off for the last 2-3 weeks trying to get ever closer for my first 1cc at something when suddenly.... My mind went clear, my ship was missing hundreds of bullets whilst I stared blankly at the screen. Never focused anywhere in particular just.. Staring, moving instinctually with no thought and a massive head rush. Before I knew it, I made it to early stage 4 before perishing (which is a big acheivement for me).

Not really too much accomplished compared to the rest of you, but it was a mindblowing experience.

Yeah, I always really enjoy when I get into that 'zone'. Nothing more awesome than sorta just tuning out and going on crazy autopilot.

This game is extremely difficult i mean, what the fuck. I still stand no chance against Stage 5 and i think I'm approaching the 10 hour mark. Geez.
You'll come around. DOJ is quite the ass kicker. My advice is to just play lots of full runs. Just because you might be able to No Miss the first couple of stages a handful of times doesn't mean you're ready for the clear (hypothetically speaking). Just play full runs a whole lot. You'll just get good at all of the levels and by the time you're closer to the 1-ALL, you'll have like 5 lives in stock for stage 5 fairly consistently. After you can do that, go ahead and save state that stage so you can experiment with different routes. Try absolutely bonkers stuff. Some routes will click and you'll eventually be able to make the clear.

Might not work for everyone, but, got me the 1-ALL. DOJ is so good, I'm getting nostalgic.

Also, 10 measily hours?! I'm not counting in hours or anything but it took me many months to get this one. Don't be so hard on yourself!

Edit: Okay. SDOJ, not DOJ. Misread. Also, soooooo far from Stage 5.

Well I certainly came around alright since I managed to beat it last week. I'm not really done practicing this game yet though since my first 1cc is pretty bad. I just switched from relying on auto-bombs to actually bomb in the situations I felt pressured.

Of course, this is only a small step of the way. I'll probably keep playing this for quite a while to go. A simple 1cc is not much to write home about tbh, my clear run was really really terrible with only one extra life in stock and everything. I have learned a lot about the game as it is but there's still many crucial things to come in the future such as learning how to deal with Stage 5 and... her.

Got the 1CC on Futari BL Maniac tonight. :)

Nothing too fancy, but I don't have the gaming time I used to have.

Mushi 1.5 Original MAX 1CC get!

I wasn't prepared at all for how rough Aki gets if you actually make it there on one credit, so the whole final fight was really visceral and intense. Was down to my last life, no bombs, and just barely squeezed through to the clear. It was awesome.

These MAX modes are really fun. 8)

I've been wanting to get a Harmful Park run on video, and yesterday I recorded a new personal best.

Harmful Park Normal 13.1 million clear

When I started playing, the highest score on the forum was 4.something million. It's not a perfect run, but it's nice to be king of my little corner of the forum.

Dude, totally. This is why people must play Dangun Feveron for more than 10 minutes.

Curious, have you 1cc'd original mode? MAX is supposed to be more difficult, right? I've only had the chance to play it a few times. Congrats, sounds like an awesome credit :D

I got the 1cc with Asagi in Galuda II tonight. Now I just need to get Tateha's clear in and I'll be set for "I did it!" :D

It took long enough, but I finally finished Ibara. Years ago I got to the stage 6 boss and stopped playing. Recently I have forced myself to play it 1 hour a day to get some practice in. I used the type B ship and only scored 5.8m but I will take it. On to the next games which currently are akai katana and futari BL maniac mode.

Congratulations, Jaimers.
I see you even managed to no miss the last boss. Really impressive :!:

How hard would you say expert mode is overall, now that you've cleared it? Was any section particularly tricky?

Thanks!
Expert is really difficult but doable, a good routing helps to remove most of the risky dodges that you have to do.
Stage 5 is also not that bad if you can keep chaining high level hyper cancels.

As for tricky sections, those are definitely the stage 4 and 5 bosses. Stage 2 boss also to a certain extent but autobombing there isn't that big a deal. I'm a bit worried about the stage 4 and 5 midbosses as they can sometimes troll you and furthermore I've never figured out the section with the three turrets after the last big cancel enemy in stage 5 without hypering. That section is bananas.

Oh yes, I know which section you're talking about. That has to be pretty much the trickiest.

Which one do you think is the best ship for Expert?
I find Type A really hard to use while Type C's pretty good but a tad too slow. I like how B-EX can hit most of the screen while still being acceptably rapid.

Well B, obviously. :)
B is reasonably fast, has good power and can hit the entire screen at once once you learn the somewhat weird shot.
C also seems like a good choice but the shot is pretty weak and the movement is very slow. It's good for the wide shot though.
A is very good in the normal modes but it seems to lose some of it's usefullness in expert because of how much expert restricks your movement with all the 3-way shots.

Certainly a minor accomplishment, but I finally cleared Futari Original. I played it a lot when I was a newer player but my runs were too uneven then. Got it yesterday after just a few credits. I've been on a clearing/1-alling spree of backlogged games lately: Esprade, Dragon Blaze, Futari, Soukyuugurentai... might return to MMP this week. Someday I will have cleared all the games I like, and then I suppose I'll have no recourse but to play for score. Presently its just too much fun going from "new" game to game.

Finally cleared Godlike in Score Rush Multiplayer with Weak-Boson. I gameovered during the final boss rather embarrassingly (it has a habit of moving and firing in such a way that it makes walls I'm not good at reading). :/ But he managed to finish it and we got the highest Godlike score on the leaderboard too, yay!

We're thinking 3bil maybe even 4 bil is possible with a good team, but you'd need a full team of 4 players to get quick kills (you get a higher multiplier on the value of enemies the faster you kill them.
