Okay I got the actual PS1 import Donpachi.
I got a US NTSC Slim PS2, and I use the Disk swap to get the game to play on a US machine.
And I get no Background music?
The Disk isn't scratched, The BGM plays fine on my PC.
Why not in the game?

with a disc swap the TOC is read from the 1st disc. If DP uses red book audio, you have to use a boot disc with red book audio as well - and the number of tracks should match DP as closely as possible, otherwise you'll always run into audio problems (skipped tracks and so on).
