How do you determine the size of a video?...

Post by dave4shmups »

More specifically, video size from this website's download store: http://shop.justplanes.com/eShop/catalo ... e05f79b129

The thing is, if I purchase and download a program from these guys, I'd like to know how much space it's going to take up on our PC-how many megabytes, gigabytes; whatever. BUT they don't list the file size for any of those titles in their download store. Is there any other way of knowing, even if it's just guessing? The programs in that download store are all probably over an hour long; I'm assuming that would make a difference in file size. :?:

too many variables. On this specific site they offer DRM controlled files. SD, not HD. Quite long running times. I would guess 700MB per hour of material..... otherwise a 300 minute feature would hardly fit a DVD.

It could be 1400MB per hour, if they're referring to dual layer DVDs. The codec and how it's encoded could also impact the size.

So, how much memory would I need in a tablet device or PC to be able to download several of those videos? :?:

It depends on how many you download and how they're encoded.

On Newegg.com, I found some external DVD burner/writer units-BUT they use USB 2.0 I don't know what our USB ports are. Is there anyway to find out? Our PC is a 2004 Sony Viao, if the age and make helps.

They're VERY likely 2.0, but you can check with Device Manager.

Control Panel->Device Manager->Expand 'Universal Serial Bus controllers'
