I ran the blu ray on my UK PS3 and it worked fine, so there's no region blocking.

Nice - I was going to post this so might as well :

AnyDVD HD fails on reading the disk completely - doesn't return any region info, only that the disk is AACS protected - but that's all moot.

Fabulous news! I just checked AmiAmi, since they are normally the cheapest, but Ketsui (in both editions) is sold out. Based on your experience, is there any chance that they'll get new stock? Both Play-Asia and Yes-Asia have, err, adjusted their price for the limited edition and charge now $130 and $140 respectively. That's a bit more than I'd be willing to pay, especially when knowing what AmiAmi charged (with shipping). Are there any alternative sources?

On a side note, Play Asia has re-listed the LE of Ketsui for the X360, and for $75:

http://www.play-asia.com/Ketsui_Kizuna_ ... -3qfx.html
"Stock is expected to arrive on Aug 04, 2013."

Does this mean that 5bp decided to press some more of those?

Random, but found on Twitter. Apparently an Evacaneer Doom figure was debuted at Wonderfest this weekend.

Not sure if it's a fan thing or if it will be on sale at some point. No info beyond that.

I'm trying hard, but I can't really see doom in that.. Unless the left side is supposed to be closed up normally?

Whilst a lot of places aren't carrying the game at all, those that are don't seem to be running out of stock in Japan. I do see that Yodobashi are pushing into the 9000+ yen range for the limited though but if you want the game, you can still get it. I had no problems and i didn't get mine until Saturday (no preorder)

It seems pretty clear this will be somewhat of a late cycle rarity down the line

wouldn't it look like Doom if both sides were opened up? I can see it but it took a while to see it because it's face-on and only half opened.

I didn't - i just walked into Sofmap in Shinjuku to buy it. I'd seen the preorders and in truth i was just going to skip it because, hey, i have the X360 version but had some spare change and decided to pick it up along with the now patched ZOE2 HD :/

I'm guessing 5pb went with the lowest-possible print run Sony allows. If demand is as high as it currently appears, perhaps they'll do another run.

I'm not sure what you mean. Just above people are reporting that a lot of places aren't even carrying it, and those that are have plenty of stock.

I was mainly referring to Bonus!'s post regarding AmiAmi selling out and P-A+Y-A raising the price of their LEs. I could see AmiAmi trying to order more.

From what I have seen AmiAmi isn't interested in having any stock on hand - they tend to accept pre-release orders up to their order level and then simply switch to "sold out" - or if there is time and demand seems brisk they increase their order and keep accepting new orders. I haven't seen any evidence that they order stock once the official release date has passed - they may have some over-stock from their own pre-order that then eventually sells out.

Over the past year or so PlayAsia has been showing a noticeably increased tendency to charge an excessive premium for special editions - right now only their regular edition prices remain somewhat competitive.

Solaris is still listing the LE for 9800 ($100) plus 1100 for EMS. Looking at $110 there.

Not a lot of folks on these leaderboards yet. Less than a 100. Hopefully picks up in the next week or so.

For what it's worth, Solaris has more LEs in stock but they're out of the preorder CD. I was told when I placed my post-release order that I got the last one they had.

I emailed Ami Ami about chances of restocking Ketsui, and they had this to say:
Thank you for your mail. The item you are inquiring about is, unfortunately, sold out at the moment. Because of this our store cannot accept any further orders for it at this time. We currently do not know when or if we will be receiving restocks of that item, and as such are unfortuantely unable to give any information regarding that possibility right now. We do apologize for the inconvenience caused by this, but due to the fast-paced nature of the hobby industry many items are made in small quantities and quickly sell out

Thanks for the heads-up! I think I'll order from there. Just one questions: all shipping options are insured, but some don't offer tracking. So this means that it should be perfectly safe to go with the cheapest as well, doesn't it? I have no problem waiting two weeks for a game. Too bad about the preorder bonus having run out, but it's not such a big deal since the main draw is the superplay bonus.

Is there anyone interested in the actual game and not just in the plastic and paper pieces included in the L.E.?
Is anyone able to notice if the conversion is any good in comparison with the arcade or xbox 360 versions?
Thanks

There has been no review posted. The assumption seems to be that since the port was directed by the current world-record holder of Ketsui with all ships/loops, it's a quality port. I'd love to read a more detailed review too. It sounds as if it is pretty much identical to the X360 offering.

In that case can a mod change the title to "Associated Ketsui tat comes to the PS3 (plus a disc with maybe a game on it or whatever)"?

I'm hardy qualified to comment on the super fine details - but there seems to be no obvious major differences between the two versions (x360/ps3)

Japanese boards are noting "minor bug fixes" but thats about it (level 2 boss bug fixed for instance but i'd be lying if i said i knew what the original issue was)

Stevas, hang around and it will start to surface. I'm waiting for mine got NCSX ship notice this morning. The reason no info exists is because most have just had moments with it. Patience, grasshoppah ;)

Word, yo.

When Ketsui EXTRA was released for the Japanese XBox 360, a day before the official release date I uploaded a YouTube video with footage of the first 3 levels, pictures of the packaging, pictures of all the menus & options and a detailed review from someone that knew what they were talking about. All for free, all for the fans, all for the English speaking shoot 'em-up community:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VGCet30zSQM

Because of the lack of gratitude and general lack of respect, I thought why should of I bother with this version? So I didn't.

Of course I got this version before anyone else (same with the DS and X360 version) but I thought I would sit back and see how the 'hardcore shumup' English speaking community covered the release this time without me. The result? Total shambles. Confusion over physical content, pre-order gifts, region compatibility of contents etc. At the time of writing (5 whole days after the official release date), there is still no review (in English), video footage of actual gameplay or even any decent initial impressions.

And when I ask ask one simple question - 'How do I buy Instant Brain from my Japanese marketplace?', an extremely rare occasion when I ask for help, nothing.

A fucking joke.

Bring back JAPJAC, all is forgiven.

Cheers chap. Maybe next time. Over 10 years of contributing to the hobby for free, first OutRun 2 review/pictures, first New Mikado footage, first CPS CHANGER footage and properly done on-line and printed features, footage of Tokyo's arcades and shops dating back over 10 years, insights in to living in Tokyo, Japanese hardware release days, lists and reviews of obscure import diamonds that have shaped countless of collections and hundreds of other contributions, all for free, all in the name of sharing.

I honestly wished I had chosen skateboarding over Japanese action gaming, such a better community full of normal, rad people, no jealous, socially retarded outcasts compared.

I download Coronation Street via a torrent, every episode, have done for 4 years. I am grateful to the uploader. Even if they typed 'Been a corrie fan since episode one, know more than anyone else, did my work experience there and I know all the non-perverted cast personally.' Even if I suspected they were half joking due to their English sense of humour, I wouldn't slag them off. I would carry on downloading their hard work with gratitude and thank them every now and then.

Most people haven't got a clue about real life normal decent people in the on-line computer game scene. Keeping fapping, keep being jealous, get some life-long real life friends, a real jina to play with, stop judging people you don't actually know and grow up people.
