Dreamcast VGA to HDMI Converter: Not Good

Post by WedgeAntilles »

Hello!

I picked up one of these converters the other day and recently hooked it up to my TV through my receiver. I had a ton of delay when playing Street Fighter III to the point where it was making the game difficult to play. Has anyone else run into this problem? I think I'll go back to the standard VGA hookup.

Good talk....

usually not the converter's fault.

If your TV has a gamemode you might be able to match the VGA input's performance on the HDMI inputs. VGA is usually always the least processed input available.

Which converter are you using, and what is your TV?

One thing to keep in mind is that most vga to hdmi converters do not mess with the resolution, so you are still dealing with your tv's scaler's ability to upscale 480p to whatever the screen's native resolution is. Plus, like Fudoh said, you need to turn off or limit as much processing as you can. My tv is even picky about which hdmi port you use.

Thanks guys. I'll check it out. The HDMI thing made things a lot easier in terms of a single hookup.
