I started playing it, it seems decent enough. Less than an hour in though.PalInd wrote:Busou Shinki: Battle Masters MK2 although it's mecha-musume battles instead of actual mechas.KAI wrote:Mecha games for PSP?
I don't know how exactly good this game is as I'm not into mecha games but at least I know it has a decent soundtrack by Yoshimi Kudo.

What are some decent third-person action titles for the PSP?
Come check out my website, I guess. Random stuff I've worked on over the last two decades.

I feel like playing something badass tonight, but I can't decide on anything. All recommendations welcome as long as I will feel badass playing it.

Lasts night I was felling that way, dug into my Saturn games, going for Silhouette Mirage, then Sengoku Blaede, undecided, Metal Black, Gun Frontier... almost played a pinball game, or Hansha de Spark, or Saturn Bomberman... !!! could not decideACSeraph wrote:I feel like playing something badass tonight, but I can't decide on anything. then it struck me
HYPER DUEL
That did the trick!

Madworld on the Wii would fit, but I guess youACSeraph wrote:I feel like playing something badass tonight, but I can't decide on anything. All recommendations welcome as long as I will feel badass playing it.

If you own a Wii and don't own Madworld you get your gamer card taken away.
Ended up playing Metal Black on Saturn (didn't have Hyper Duel). It was a good choice, definitely the top of the top in shmup badassery. May actually replay Madworld, it's been so long I'd kind of forgotten about it and I need something not shmup related to tear up after finishing off Blood Dragon.

Most Platinum games will make you feel badass, I'm not particularly fond of MadWorld myself.
Bayonetta, Vanquish, and MG Rising however. Seriously, nothing makes you feel badass like blocking every attack with a timed parry, and slicing up EVERYTHING including scenery.

Not sure if this counts as badass but it sure looks badass

Puzzle games for the PSP? I bought the Mercury bundle years ago and love the games, but looking for more puzzle games on the psp. Any type is fine with me.

As Skykid said Lumines is probably the big one. There is also a Capcom puzzle game collection that includes Super Puzzle Fighter. Its been ported to a lot of systems, but that doesn't make it any less awesome.

A word of warning, I got this collection some years ago and it repeatedly froze on me; I had to take it back to the store. I have a PSP-2000, not sure if that matters or not.ACSeraph wrote:There is also a Capcom puzzle game collection that includes Super Puzzle Fighter.
As for other puzzlers, Crush is more of a puzzle-platformer (and too tricky for me to stand a chance at), but rather neat regardless. Also ported to the 3DS.

Baroque. Yay or nay? Expecting something rewarding and difficult, but I'll decide after an opinion or two (or more) weigh in.
Re: Generic game recommendations: you ask, we suggest
I actually REALLY DIG this game. It has a really cool atmosphere, the bad dub actually adds to the creepiness of the whole thing. It's honestly my favorite console roguelike, despite not being grid-based or turn-based. It really captures the focus on item management and identification that I love so much, and unlike say the Mystery Dungeon series, your strategies actually do have to change constantly to fit the circumstance. The low draw distance and clunky controls only work in the game's favor, ala King's Field IMO.AweOfShe wrote:Baroque. Yay or nay? The game's not perfect: it needs some more enemy variety; the story can get a bit stupid when the main character opens his mouth; and personal complaint, you don't get to customize the main character (mainly because I REALLY want a proper 3d roguelike where you get to make your own characters and have them die forever); and in general, I just wish there was more variety in item and weapon types, etc.
All this said though, I still highly recommend the game if you're into this kind of thing at all. I was skeptical at first too, but I think it's a $20 well worth it.

Is Dragon Ball Z Kai Ultimate Botouden for DS any good?? I have seen some gameplays and looks nice. As a DB fan, since Budokai 3 I havent played a good game of the franchise.

Hearing a bit in the Gaist Crusher thread got me wondering - is Astro Boy: Omega Factor on the GBA any good? Worth the ~$15 for it? I'd love a good fast-paced portable action title. If not that, any good portable (GBA and DS) recommendations? (i tend towards the platformer variety if I can help it). I already have the Castlevanias and Legend of Kage 2, and Aliens (which I don't really like tbh), so stuff off the beaten path is always welcome!

Astro Boy: Omega Factor never excited me. I looked forward to it immensely and purchased it on release, but it never held my interest enough to finish it.EmperorIng wrote:Hearing a bit in the Gaist Crusher thread got me wondering - is Astro Boy: Omega Factor on the GBA any good? Advance Guardian Heroes, on the other hand, I've played through multiple times, and look forward to playing it again in the future.
If you want fast paced this is the ticket, especially over Astro Boy.
It's one of the most under-appreciated games I can think of.

My opinion of those two games is almost the opposite of yours. *shrugs*

Haven't played Guardian Heroes Advance, but Astro Boy had some neat stuff going on. It was pretty much my first real exposure to the Tezuka stuff so that aspect of it alone kept me interested, but there's also some well-paced fights and tight combat to play around with. Of course there's also a facility for playing through the whole game at once to get a high score going - but even "credit feeding" through it I don't think I was / would have been bored (I can't say at this remove how good I was with the game, except to say that I know I had some deaths in there).
Some years ago I remember passing up $30 (or maybe less) new copies of Gunstar Super Heroes because they wasn't worth that much. Of the list I'd bet Guardian Heroes is the most valuable, as I think it's the most obscure of the three and probably a bit rarer than the others.
