Question: U.S. online order / tax, VAT theme

Can somebody help me? (U.S. members?)

I want a macbook from USA.
I know, that the US Apple Store will be not shipped out off US, only in Usa. This is not a problem. Order my friends live there US, and they send me Europa....

My Question:

This ordering someone living in USA, this is the final price? (pls look pic , 1449usd) (this price includes: tax, VAT, etc. ?? ..)

Or even come to this tax or VAT etc.. ? and to pay more?

I just ordered one of those on Friday, and I'll be receiving it tomorrow. I'll let you know if I have to pay any taxes or not. I'm pretty sure I wont have to, but I haven't imported anything that expensive into the US in 10+ years. Fairly sure the price you see is the total, but I can tell you 100% tomorrow.

BTW, it depends on the state. For Apple, California definitely will ding you for tax. That might be the only one for Apple. Amazon has a host of states now where sales tax is required.

I believe (correct me if I'm wrong) sales tax will be added in any state where:

1. The state of the billing address has a sales tax
2. The store has a brick and mortar presence in that state

In the case of Apple, I would have to assume they have an Apple store in just about every state now.

That's not the entire story, though, as GaijinPunch says. Do you remember this? It's not based entirely on physical presence anymore, dependent on your state.
