Uh huh. I've been pinned down to my bed with screaming sounds in my ears, I've had the headboard of the bed vibrate, I've woken up and not and not be able to see my hand, all the usual stuff.

A few years ago I was also 'lucky' enough to have the existence of ghosts confirmed when I woke up at my friend's place at about three in the morning to see an apparition stooped over the kitchen bench (the living room where they put my bedding down leads to the kitchen, and they always left the kitchen light on of a night) The thing must have been seven or eight feet tall and was like a shadow, as in it had no discernible detail to be made out. :? After a few seconds it proceeded to melt into the background.

And no, I'm afraid I'm not joking about this.

And yes, there is a logical explanation for all this, just not a naturalistic one.

I see KAI just posted. I hate public transport.

OJ Simpson comes to mind. Oh well.
EXACTLY what I thought before I read your answer.
Have you ever had any sort of supernatural experience that cannot be explained logically?
Mine are subtle. Once when I was a child I had either a dream of, or actually woke up and saw people (angels?) talking at the foot of the bed I was sleeping in, which was my parents. My dreams are nothing ever short of abstract and fucked up. It's the only time I can remember of having a dream which took place somewhere I had actually been. Of course, it could have just been a dream.

Other than that, tons of other times that I should not have come out of a predicament as unscathed as I did. Too many to list. Of course, a non-spiritual would easily write this off as luck. An over-zealous religious person would say it was clearly God. For the sake of this thread, it's again hard to say, but to draw a little from this thread, I like to think that you at least 'reap what you sow' which would point to some karmic love that came my way.

I know there have been a couple of responses but I've got one I haven't shared with anyone before.

I was a senior in high school and home alone one day. I lived in a finished basement and was taking a shower when there were a couple of really solid knocks on the bathroom door, then a jiggling of the doorknob (locked). I said "hey, what, etc" a few times and wasn't the least bit concerned because my parents had a pool and I had neighborhood chicks that would come by and help themselves. But nobody answered.. I shut it down and ventured out into the adjacent family room to see who was there, but nobody.. After looking around a bit I got a little freaked out and called the next door neighbor over. I live in (God Bless) America so he came over packing heat and he brought his dog. The dog immediately went fucking nuts and ran to the door of the basement storage room. We opened the door and went in, the dog retreated.. but the room was empty.. and no windows or anything.

It freaked me out a lot more after the fact because I couldn't explain what had happened. The door knock was very much real, and since the basement had been finished rather cheaply, the door was hollow and made a lot of noise when opened/closed/knocked.

A number of intellectual addictions, like videogames and useless web sites. which sooner or later waste too much of my time in exchange for too little fun. But I usually persist until quitting isn't very hard.

Q: What was your greatest waste of preparation (time, effort and expense) due to missed use? Hopefully something more tragic than wasting concert tickets because you go on vacation.

Q: What on earth happened to the drop-down bookmarks folder on the right-side of my toolbar? He was always under the home icon but while browsing today I noticed it was suddenly missing. I went to toolbar layout then custom and there's a bookmark icon there but it opens everything up on the left-side instead and looks all ugly.

A: zero, since after the dth derivative all you'll have left is a constant, and the derivative of a constant is zero.

A: Because those in the government believe it necessary, or at least necessary enough to not make it into an issue with their constituents. Those in the media... couldn't say. They chase whatever's hot, and the nuances of NSA surveillance may take up too much brainpower for the average Headline News viewer (related: how often do you think folks just go along with privacy invasions by apple/android apps?).

A: The metaphor of freedom and security on opposite ends of a scale is misguided, because it implies that they are equals. One should be free to do as one pleases, as long as that action does not infringe on the rights or property of another person, while security must ensure that this right to freedom continues to be upheld. Freedom therefore is a fundamental right, whereas security is merely a tool that should serve to protect our freedom.
