I recently tried Dimahoo, and while I found the game quite compelling, the lack of autofire was a huge turn-off. I just don't like pressing one key thousands of time. Then I thought I'd check out Twin Cobra II and thought that the in-built autofire was great. But this was before I realized that your shot gets stronger if you hammer the button. I just don't like that, so I went back to playing Progear.
To get to the point: I was wondering you could recommend some games in MAME that have built-in autofire. Sadly, I'm on Mac OS X, so I can't use some of those inofficial MAME builds that have autofire support, which greatly limits my options.
PCB / MAME-emulated games with autofire?
Re: PCB / MAME-emulated games with autofire?
Dimahoo does have autofire on button C. You might have to enable it somewhere, but it definitely has it.

You're right about Dimahoo! I made a mistake setting the buttons and accidentally mapped button C to a different button than I thought I had.

Even the Dodonpachi PCB has a setting for full auto-fire on button "C" if so desired.
The classic Capcom's Hyper Dyne Sidearms PCB (circa 1986) has a super blazing fast auto-fire rate (that's faster than using an external auto-fire PCB add-on). Was pleasantly surprised to learn of this auto-fire feature is considered standard on a SA PCB (whether it be the original JPN version or the USA region PCB from the likes of American arcade game distributor, Romstar). The very first time I saw the Romstar version of SA was back in April of 1987 at the Great America amusement park based in Santa Clara, CA (now owned by Six Flags these days). I used to pick the auto-fire power-up icon and use it for the entire 2CC sessions from the very beginning to the eventual destruction/end of the Bozon mechanical worm end-stage boss back in the Spring of 1988 -- it was that good, indeed. Never knew about giving up your extra lives directly on Bozon itself to boost-up your overall SA scoring bug/trick to over 3+ million (when the Romstar SA's default setting gave you three lives and earning three extra lives in reserve during a serious 1CC or 2CC run).
On Taito's G-Darius version 2 PCB, button "C" is used for full auto-fire functionality whereas on the version 1 PCB of the same name, it's a two button affair at best with no auto-fire enabled from the get-go.
Of course with a Reco auto-fire PCB, things are bound to change the tables so that they're in your favor when playing your favorite arcade STG PCBs. It really does change the game to play on your own terms and not on the original terms/constraints of the STG developer. Makes playing a single session of Namco's Tenkomori Variety Shooting/Tenkomori Shooting PCB an easy 'n' breezy walk through the park if you will.

You can add Fire Barrel to the list : there is a dipswitch to change from 2-buttons to 3-buttons setting, with autofire on C button.
