Oh - I think a few people here have dip/etc archives - please add the above to your archives so the information gets out there. The only one I could find was an autoparsed one which was very wrong.

By trial & error find out dip switches - Daioh USA Bios

Post by PC Engine Fan X! »

When I first got my American Sammy USA Bios version of Daioh PCB several years ago, I had to by trial & error, find out the dip switch settings since no nobody on the forum could help me. And it was Matt, who gave me a 'two pin header" so I could change the country region from USA to JPN on jumper 6 and 7. Matt made me a special kick harness to take advantage of the three extra buttons afforded on the USA Bios version of Daioh.

I like how some the sprites, enemy placement, and stages are a tad bit different when playing in JPN Bios mode on a USA Bios Daioh PCB and it remains as the only 6-button arcade Tate'd shmup title ever created. ^_~

The bad thing is the difficulty ramps up rather quickly by the time one reaches stage five and beyond in USA Bios mode of Daioh.

Is there a way to have the attract mode run when this board is set to free play? I'm taking this to an arcade con and have to have it free play but when I set it to that I only get the continue screen which is kind of lame. Basically there'd be no way for anyone to know what this game is unless they sat down to my cab and hit player one.

Sorry, the attract mode is disabled if free play is enabled on a USA region Daioh PCB setup. The only other alternative is to disable free play mode and bring back the attract mode by hooking up a spare push button wired up to the coin-up switch and have the interested Daioh players "coin-it" up going that particular route.

Playing the American Sammy version of Daioh on the 2nd loop is pure nuts/insane with the enemies' bullets travelling faster than you can move your fightercraft is really something.
