I think I'd scream if I saw that. I've had packages sit just a couple miles up the road [sometimes just one town away, bleh] for a while, but nothing crazy like that, jeez.BulletMagnet wrote:Ordering a package from a few states away. Becoming incredibly confused when item then leaves my state and winds up on the opposite coast before coming back to my state a week after it was supposed to arrive. Fortunately it still seems to be in one piece, but I can only wonder what the heck is happening at the ol' post office these days, heh.

Seconded.zeroroute wrote:People who claim they hate anime, and they've only watched the mainstream ones.
Relatedly, stereotypes like that all anime is about people with chi attacks, or that all anime has people screaming really loud or "moe" characters or cute animals or random chibis.... where these stereotypes come from I don't know, because most of the anime I've seen isn't like that at all.

That might be related, but I do know its so oft-repeated its basically a religion that "everything is subjective" and "everyone is entitled to their opinions," which is used to excuse everything from liking One Bad Apple to being a baby-raper.Ed Oscuro wrote:Are you sure it's Americans you're upset with? I slant more towards oriental philosophies, which in my experience have more of a "that's nice to say, but its meaningless if you can't enforce it" POV.

Sales threads where the seller deletes the price he has sold the item for. WHat in the fuck? What do you achieve by doing this? People want to know how much your shit went for you know.

There is one recent issue, however, and that's Euro sellers listing cross-forum. Seriously, if they sell something on a Euro forum, it's best we don't see the price.

As a slight consolation, I have been able to extract the normal installer from those installer installers with 7Zip on occasion. Depends on the site.Specineff wrote:"Yo, dawg. I'm sick of people who I don't know asking me for requests on DeviantArt. Though I suppose it's my fault for being on fucking DeviantArt, but still. They don't have the fucking courtesy to say please or thank you.
"Hey, can I have an anthro of my pony oc?"
They don't even read my page which says I don't do requests.

Hey, XoPachi, I have an art request, can you draw a ponified version of Mah Penis?
Just kidding.
But on that note, I do dislike people who don't read a post but respond to it anyway, or ask a question you've already answered elsewhere.

People who offer shipping only within their own country. Is it really that hard to ship something overseas and price what you're shipping as X + cost of shipping? Just send it via UPS or something with tracking+insurance and charge me the extra, don't just refuse potential buyers just because they aren't in the same area as you, sheesh.
Re: Little things that annoy the hell out of you
@ On the other hand, you could have FedEx charge you $80 because your overseas shipper tried to ship to an address that's undeliverable via FedEx, and they used your email, and then FedEx decides that they already did the shipping service. Once FedEx tells you it probably won't be expensive to ship to you (since it's already in the country), that will also not be true. Presto! You just paid double the price!
Probably in most cases it's just sheer laziness but no doubt there have been some horror stories when the incompetent try to ship things.

Re: Little things that annoy the hell out of you
I used to be an eBay seller, and to be honest I sympathize with people who don't ship overseas. The buyers always try to haggle with you and will give you shit if you refuse to lower the price, even though often the shipping prices really are that expensive. There were several cases where the cost of overseas shipping actually ate up all the profit I made.BareknuckleRoo wrote:People who offer shipping only within their own country. It's very rare that I'll sell something to someone outside the country anymore.

People who eat their unpaid for food in the supermarket (typically the queue) and then go an pay for the empty wrapper. It's usually the smug 'because I can' demeanor that goes with it that grates on me.
But it's pathetic that it annoys me so!

Re: Little things that annoy the hell out of you
eBay doesn't really make this transparent but there is a solution. I don't know what the preferred eBay policy is at the moment, but stating "overseas buyers will pay the actual cost of shipping" should do it. There is no reason to take it on the chin when you're shipping something.Edmond Dantes wrote:There were several cases where the cost of overseas shipping actually ate up all the profit I made.
The last time I almost sent something overseas (well, sort of - a big country connected to the United States through other countries and a very tenuous ribbon of land, hint) the buyer tried to scam me out of the item...fortunately I was slow in shipping so I just was able to hold onto the item. No negatives or anything, close call though.
Re: Little things that annoy the hell out of you
Being something of a lifelong filch myself, I always help myself to a "free" donut/cookie/food bin item or two when I'm grocery shopping. With things like hardboiled eggs in the salad areas you can practically get a full meal. Of course I always do a little real shopping so I've never been confronted about it, but I do delight in the reactions of other shoppers, especially when they're indignified or offended. It mortifies certain friends I'm with (which only makes me enjoy it the more, hehe).spadgy wrote:People who eat their unpaid for food in the supermarket (typically the queue) and then go an pay for the empty wrapper. Re: Little things that annoy the hell out of you
i sold a fair bit on here and at other places and i've generally had a good experience - i'd like to think my prices were more than reasonable (i sold off DDP and a few other things at as good a price as i could) but there's still some element of haggling. That part is fine, but the thing i can't get away with is :The buyers always try to haggle
"Well, i can get it off Yahoo Auctions Japan for <price> so i want to pay that"
or
"It costs 2000 yen - so plus shipping - and i'll paypal you that"
On point one : yes, if you were buying from Yahoo Auctions - you can get a ton of bargains. However - that's , in a lot of circumstances, not an avenue with out a proxy. It's a case of "well, if you can get it for that price from YHJ then please do so"
On the second point? I simply don't get it. There's no profit at all so the buyer does it out of the goodness of their heart? Whilst i -will- do that for family and close friends, for people i don't know from the next guy in the street it's just not a good use of my time.
My other recent annoyance is : Who told the entire internet that they could use "Fair Use" Copyright clause to cover their music use on Youtube? Seems almost every video has the same -INCORRECT- text (some parts are flat out wrong, there's a missing comma that changes the context by joining two words together that should not be, it proposes non-profit based on what the text says about -commercial- use etc etc). Then i find message boards full of people moaning that their music was still disabled with the odd daft cock going on about "suing Youtube". I guess , as said before, "bloke said... on the internet" is the new "bloke said... down the pub". (For reference : I worked in Music Copyright and Licensing - specifically, in the last year or so i was there, in Internet music licensing)
