If any body is interested, id like to get this on the megadrive, need a programmer to use the BasiEgaXorz language.

Wow this is really great, I really like this.
Use openmpt or lmms, they are great... Why need a programmer for md, release for windows...

(like my amiga esque gradient sunrise ?)

Need a megadrive tracker so i can use the real hardware for sound, no other way , well unless the game is over the usualy 8 meg to 16 size(by using wav. or whatever).

Just seems a bit too easy with game engines, be cool to get something like this within the 80 sprites on screen limitation of the md...:O

If i get some help, im going to look for funding(a bit of a dream but...), itl be the culmination of the stuff i learned with the other experiments..

Don't be tied to things like.that... If u have an idea that u want to express, get it out to as many people as u can, may be some of the stuff u can do your self, some you can't. The point is the expression, if you have a beautiful voice, its meant to be heard.

I liked the old player shot better, gave a more powerful feeling. You really need to work on your bullet patterns, fire up some old school games and see how its done.

And for the love of shmups, upscale your videos before posting to youtube. youtube does horrible things to low res videos. (pm me for a easy way to do it, i recently figured this stuff out.)

I dont know whats up with Youtube lately but that was a fullscreen capture, i thought the frame rate was too good to be true while recording .

I got a bit of a fetish with fast foreground scrolling and slow patterns lol... does it for me(im tempted to have them all be slow shots).
Yeah, well im still learning patterns, in my own unique way . I thought id calm down a bit here, i could have had whips everywhere but, tried to be less gimmicky.

That bigger shot was cutting off when its corners collided with stuff, didnt look the best .Can changed though , i want an x-out style shop at the beginning where you can choose your config

Image gimme an excuse to draw some mutant shop keeper which i look forward to ..ALOT.

Next levels going to be more rtype with some background collision.

Encode as close to the format described in that thread, always make sure to upscale your videos to either 720p or 1080p at 30FPS, youtube applies different algorithms for HD and non-HD.

Also, take a look at gley lancer, gaiares, thunderforce series for enemy formation and bullet patterns.

Not going for that sort of thing. More battle mania 2 i guess.
This is more a hyper exaggerated bullet spam sort of thing.........with a pretty sunrise ;).

auto fire(relax and dodge some stuff), but esc to quit out.

Why oh why can't you do sanely-coloured bullets? I got visibility issues there man. :(

Seriously though, steal the GMOSSE bullet sprites if you have to, but I swear in that test I got knocked by an invisible bullet again, and combined with this weird lag thing all your Construct games seems to have it can get frustrating real quickly. Visibility is everything, your background stuff is mostly dark so real bright gradients should do the trick. :wink:

Shouldnt be any lag now, it was the vsync, thats long gone....I can see it on my pc (thanks to you alerting me). Runs smooth on my onboard graphics as well.

I just cant put them pink bullets down........ damn it !!

Gave it a try (honestly your best work yet in my opinion)
Cons
- where the hell are the menus. No start screen, no intro screen, no game over screen? add smooth transitions too.
- bullets and collectibles are the same color. makes me feel like i am color blind
- needs more than zero buttons. add tap shot, focus shot and bombs/hypers. feels more like a phone shmup because of it.
- doesnt use full screen estate. it was a small letterboxed display. hard to see things.
- too many undodgeable bullets. even with the health bar.
- caravan games come in 2/5 minute versions. it gets boring after a minute.

Pros
- definitely less laggy than before.
- really did feel like a megadrive shmup
- didnt burn my eyes

Thanks, means alot ..especially the Megadrive bit !!

Im trying to stick with the same thing , (soo hard) but looks like it may need another reboot, owing to the amount of crit.

Menus will come when jaws start hitting the floor, not before.
At the moment just a gameplay demo , see what you lot think,
Still working on the aspect ratio, full screen stuff..(nothing in construct is as straight forward as it should/could be )

All in all, it sounds like a huge challenge, but im happy with that .....and shame on you, not being able to avoid those bullets!!

Atleast put in place holders for the menus. If you dont do it know, it might become a pain to do later. Besides without a proper start screen it just feels so jarring. just make a screen where you have to press any key to move to the main game. use about 2-3 seconds of dead air before the action begins. it gives a better feel to who ever is trying the demo. Also, bring back the old player giant fireball shot, it felt more empowering.

copy the hell out of it. but just dont cut-paste. see what it does good. then implement it the way you would like it.

I remember as a kid, I would hire that EVERYWEEK , just to put in that cheat and "experience" that work of art/game ..
Got to the point where i could turn the machine on (while my parents watched something else) and blindly navigate through the menus to listen to the music.( through the model 1 headphone socket).

ahhh ..(i need to stop NOW)

I like how, even though its an incredibly beautiful game, the backdrops are nothing more than some pretty small scrolling tiles, no epic sprawling progear backdrops here.

I could use as many layers as i want in construct but im using 3 layers, like the megadrive and using the tecnique they did to get all those layers.

Im not sure what you all mean by the bullets, i mean i got big ball sort of things, that i would never have dreamed of, if not been inspired by some of your games(being of the pre donpachi disposition ) ..they are colorful, easy to see (after earlier critism).

There's also a variety of them , 5 different types i believe (in one level), including those ninja star things. The slow bullets are deliberate, that's the kind of game i want ..


i dont see much difference between mine and gmosse's



I did this earlier and animated the colors on them a bit better, is this what you mean ? its no gameplay just a rolling level layout thing .

FRACTURED CHAKRA UPDATE :



- when your not moving you can manually rotate your craw options for bullet canceling
- you are rewarded for not shooting and dodging
- some boxes on the platforms to bust
- bullets that show you which direction they are going :D
- you are basically firing your DNA strand at the "american ninjas"(FOR THE FIRST TIME ..WHOOO!!)
- coins you just want to bite!!
- beautiful music!

Boss battles are inspired by Vorpal on xblig, but between the missions i wanted something interesting, the libraries are going to feature some full reading Hellenistic metaphysics/Bhagavad Gita stuff

You are this little Indian mystic who travels to the U.S.A. (1980s "nunchucks" U.S.A.)

Your mission is to confront 5 of these demi Gods you have heard about ...to consider them for inclusion to your collection of Gods.(back at your library)

there are 5 themed levels

Gods of: -
Blaxploitation
Porn
Fastfood (that old classic)
Televangelism
and some Ted Bundy/American psycho forest, mega disturbing women staked to the ground stuff

(this is in the dead rising humor sort of thing ...no offense meant )

all are complete with a SUPER disturbing and upsetting Boss/demi Gods




Some unique gameplay: -

-Points ramp up very fast if you play as a pacifist
-You can rotate your satellites to use as shields
- conversations with the bosses
- super disturbed bosses
- between levels you access this chakan style meta library
- if you going in guns blazing you have slower movement, but a chain combo system.
- gameboy thing is dropped, this will be unlimited to anything
