Let me clarify the act/stage thing. Put down the Act you get to. For some reason, the high score thing doesn't give you your stage, but it puts down how many credits you used under PLAY. (lol taito)

I think that must be an Act 4 score. Maybe didn't realise that the first stage includes Act 1 + Act 2.

I don't fucking get this game.

To the people wondering why such a high score so early, there's some weird thing where you can get some big white text character to appear on the ground, and if you destroy it it's worth 500,000 points. But I have no idea what triggers it or how many more of these stupid things there are.

Act 2, around the middle of the stage. I wasn't recording because it came up totally randomly in what I THOUGHT was a familiarization run, but maybe there's a scoring video somewhere on the wide expanse of the internets. I'll go try to find something that shows what I'm talking about.

EDIT: This is the closest thing I can find to corroboration through a cursory Google search: http://www.arcade-history.com/?n=master ... il&id=1579 (see the 'Tips and Tricks' section - I don't know where the trigger is, but the character definitely appears in Act 2, not Act 1.)

I did have a fairly decent run with a score of 514k without the score trick, but it wasn't better than this shitty run which did have the score trick (the only time it's happened for me so far).

Going to pop the get bonus back up to 1m (which is what I had before, I lowered it right before the start)
Additionally, the server's back now, but who knows for how long. Fuck DDoSrs, seriously...

Ok, I got the trick for the first time, and I think I know why I got it. If I'm correct, it may require autofire on your subweapon, It's certainly useful at least. Just saying.

It's about killing enough dudes at the start, I think. Of course, if other people would try doing that and see where it gets them, it would spare me the effort of testing it more (I hate this game)

Edit: confirmed it, you need to kill FOUR running dudes. So, you should have 16,5k after you're done killing the running dudes and the vehicles. This will unlock the 500k bonus. Killing even more running dudes is fine, of course, but four is the minimum.

New score:

chum - 1,201,040 - 4 - Shmupmame 4.2

No-missed to stage 4 but then I died repeatedly. Never seen stage 4 before, it was very confusing. I kept getting killed by god knows what. Some savestate practice might be in order for that stage

Well, now that chum's let the cat out of the bag, I might as well post this score. I figured out the score trick yesterday (did it in 4 credits running), but thought I'd hold on to it till the end of the week, just in case no one else did it. There goes that plan. :)
