Ha I was actually going to say something like "the game might as well only give you 1 life" but it got left out.
Doing better anyway, secret ship seems to have a leg up over the others, slow ship seemed bad.

Gah, tried to improve today but not having any luck ... going away for the weekend so looks like I've topped at around 350k.

I guess the R-Type Final soundtrack wasn't FULL SHMUP enough :cry:

In my first 1cc, I died in 1-4 and recovered. I'm not even convinced that recovery is impossible in the loop, just unpleasant.

Anyway I'm not really playing the game anymore since it feels silly to when nobody else is even trying to compete (unless people are holding on to their scores) and there are much better games to be played instead like every Touhou game

The lack of a dynamic scoreboad (or even a score board) lessons my enjoyment of this tournament (even though as can be seen I'm not that good at these games). It's good to push to beat the next person above you but I can't tell who that is.

Was just thinking while playing this earlier, there were several arcade shmups from lesser-regarded developers that obviously borrow a lot from Psikyo shmups (Raiden is another popular source for inspiration) but you don't see too many clones of Cave shmups.

On the other hand, if you look at doujin shmups, you see loads of Cave-inspired games, but not many Psikyo-esque efforts. I wonder why that is.

I have a complete and utter kusoscore that I forgot to post (I'll try to get a run or two in when I get home) but I've been hella busy this week with a project. Still, I WILL POST A SCORE

I thought this too when the easy access to stats hit the fan... But it's not like the scores are hidden away, they're just less convenient to interpret.
Just casually check out the score thread, take note of the scores above yours, wonder if you can beat them, and then (in gunbuster style) aim for the top!
It's not like the stats won't come back at some point.

The thing that really lessens my enjoyment of this is accidentally dying on the first fucking boss a few times in a row...

not managing to improve my score, mainly played with the redwyvern...

however, one thought i noticed about the charging of the 'special weapon (C)' is that when playing with hellhound, it charges faster, (4 at start of first boss instead of redvywern 3)...
(this ofc depends on stage, but comparison made on same stage)

my conclusions, if interesting is that it's charging either by:
damage done by main weapon or
hits done by main weapon.

just thought i could note this down in here if anyone cares

99% sure it's based on hits. Just like Strikers :lol:

trap: how's it going with server btw? any ETA?

but yea, hit's seems likely, but if so, i'm pretty sure it's main weapon only.. and redwyvern actually kills/hits quite alot with it's site ones..

couldn't really manage to play good with hellhound thou, as i kept getting "blind" when i used the special weapon.. :(
