Proceeded to boot up the Taito Type X on my Egret II candy cab and an I/O error came up. What solution is available to make that dreaded I/O error go away and promptly boot up a Type X game. I'm using an Sega version 2 JVS to Jamma adapter to hook up the Type X to the candy cab as well.
From what I can recall KoF XII does have the I/O error message due to how the wiring is set up on an Egret II - which could lead to those pesky I/O errors on a typical Type X setup.
It was working the last time before I put it away in storage.

Taito Type X woes...
Re: Taito Type X woes...
Is it an "IO Error" or a "Coin Error"? KOF XIII and a few other games get coin errors if you are using a Sega JVS-to-Jamma converter. There is supposed to be a hack fix for this by "spoofing" the coin counters via the +5 line and a resistor. More details in this thread:

If you are getting an "IO Error", you may want to confirm you didn't burn out your JVS converter by trying it on another JVS game (like Naomi). Also make sure the cable is plugged into the correct JVS port on the back of the Type X and not into the USB port of the Type X.

The error message says I/O Error. I tried rearranging the various cabling but the message still comes up. Before this pesky error message came up, the only Type X game that had the I/O error was the King Of Fighters '98 Ultimate Match as everything else ran without problems.
Thanks for that thread link, Dave K. I'll look into it.
