Danmakufu complications

Hey everyone! I previously installed Danmakufu on my Win8 computer. However, I really can't do anything with it. Both the config and program run fine, but when I open up the config, everything is labeled "?????????". AppLocale isn't compatible with Windows 8 and I have installed the Japanese language pack, but nothing changes. Also, I would like to know how to remove/translate the ASCII characters in the scripts. Thanks!

Did they remove compatibility options from Windows 8?

I'd find it hilarious if they removed compatibility options from Windows 8.
