I can't play Akai Katana despite being quite good at games considered to be much harder. It is because I can't quite click with the scoring system and I cannot enjoy a shmup if I'm not scoring. I never do survival runs.

Biesendorf wrote:You're playing Raiden II right now? Thinking about it, this one might be just as big a pain in the behind as Raystorm, difficulty wise. Never got past stage 6 on one credit.
Indeed it *might* be as hard as Raystorm, but definitely not as infuriating, as in "not so many random shit fuckin' lasers to worry about".
The problem is finding the time to play it..... For Raiden 2 I envision whole afternoons of practice, and I'm working so much these past weeks that the little time I have left is being occupied with considerably easier diversions.
I have a few days off in the horizon, so I'm looking forward to spending more time with it by then.....

Gun Frontier, what I wouldn't give for a wide shot or options to deal with those annoying blue VTOLs that flood the screen! The normal enemies in this game are more dangerous than the bosses.

I am annoyingly compelled to 1cc a Parodius game and it is seriously pissing me off. Of the 3 in the series, which is the easiest clear? I'm guessing the second one based on what I've played. Cany anyone tell me the best characters to use in each of them? Currently I use Twinbee in Da, Koitsu in the second one, and the ship with the homing options in Sexy. The Bunny girl also seems decent in all 3. Please donate your tips and save a controller!

raystorm is fkin hard
I must be living in an alternate universe, because I found Raystorm to be extremely fun and addictive, and not even hard.

1cc'd it on my third try.

I guess It's just my kinda game, on the other hand I'm the same guy who can't handle even slightly fast bullet hell.

Gradius and r-type series. With most shmups I find myself getting better over time, but with those it's a total nightmare.

Well, I guess we're living in a different kind of world indeed. Raystorm is addictive and fun for sure.

The problem is finding the time to play it.....
Same situation for me here, since a week. Just started a new job and with the lovely season of summer in its prime, there's sure a whole lot of diversion! Sticking to the topic, maybe my next frustrating game will be Shippu Mahou Daisakusen: Kingdom Grandprix. I have been enjoying this little gem and was thinking about trying the 2-all with Bornam. This journey seems possible but it sure will piss me off in the future (but in a good way I guess  )

Jesus Christ, alternate universe indeed.

I would very much like to see you playing it.
Any chance of recording some footage?

To the OP. Use savestates or training to tackle the hard areas. Did you know you can even choose the mid bosses or end bosses in training mode on the x360 port? I just figured this out. :|

war of aero please let me get through stage 3 already : (

yeah i always found it funny how so many people thought raystorm was way easy even though the game starts being total bullshit by stage TWO, even on the ORIGINAL difficulty (all 2)/japanese version

wrt darius gaiden "heavy handed" is the last thing you'd ever say about the rank, because it's terribly simple to the point of being impossible to screw up, and it's not particularly cruel. in fact, i'm not so sure there's a rank increase there; the real problem is that the last powerup does ass damage because it's wave help instead of missile help. aside from that, some of the final stages are hard. my route was ABEHLQV; V in general is a good idea because you can actually outspam that asshole.

iirc ppl don't like raycrisis because it's "too" much like raystorm and maybe had limited exposure in general i guess? it's really a mystery to me. i doubt people here care too much for the ridiculous final bosses, lol

Sexy with Shooting Star is the easiest, as long as you're not trying to pass all missions and do the special stage as well.

OT: I can get right to the end of DeltaZeal but I can't clear it yet, if I don't do it soon I'll just post up my best score in the high score thread and be done with it.

Are you sure you're not talking about Raycrisis? That one is pretty easy compared to storm. If not that's pretty crazy considering how much memorizer stuff raystorm throws at you (random lasers covering your screen, hoho)

Footage blah
Well I'll have to get into Raystorm again then, just because I don't find it hard doesn't mean I play it all the time

So perhaps, just not right now.
Raycrisis is easier blah
I'm sure that I'm not talking about Raycrisis because of the fact that I played both.

I played Futari BL for the first time in a while and I just couldn't get a good run going for the life of me this weekend. Was quite embarrassing how many early restarts I had (I was playing way too aggressively I think). The one good run I had going I got a call near the end of stage 4, and cause it was a PCB I couldn't pause. I got trap15 to quickly swap places and play the rest of the credit while I took the call. xD

I cleared Outrun 2 a bunch of times that day so that made me feel better.
